100%. I've developed apathy toward almost all work... doing the bare minimum to get by and really not excited about even projects that I SHOULD be excited about. I think it's partially due to the Zoom-only way of working.

Me too!

I've been there. What helped for me was to take a step back to think about what generally motivates me to do things. For me, that's learning new things, helping others understand new things, and generally feeling like I was helping people. I also thought about a long term career statement- for me I want to help commercialize emerging technologies. That gave me a new framework with quick to consider new career opportunities, rather than thinking about daily skills and tasks. If a role does align to that framework of what fulfills me, I move on.

I’m going through something similar right now. I feel like this time of year always leaves me feeling burnt out and unenthused about practically every aspect of my job. I usually start to feel a little better once we cross over into the new year, but that could just be me.

Yeah, I tend to feel like this towards the end of the year as well. But it’s never been this bad, I guess part of that IS remote only work, plus the whole pandemic situation. Should we just let it be?

This happens to me every other week haha. I think it's just burn out. Did you enjoy your work previously?

Any way you can take a sabbatical? If not, I'd say try to find something outside of work that sparks your interest and passion. Or do something that brings you more fulfillment, like volunteering. Hopefully that will help get you over the hump until you're ready to plug back in at work.

I’m accepting a job offer tomorrow, and the new company has 5 less PTO days per year than my current company, and it’s prorated based on my start date. I have my full year planned out with my current PTO schedule, and the majority of my PTO is in the latter half of my year (1 week vacation, 3 days for sisters bachelorette party, 2 days for 2 separate wedding out of town). We already negotiated, and I feel bad going back to ask for more PTO, but I need it. What would you do? How to approach?
