I have an offer from ZS Pune but I do not want to move from Mumbai to Pune due to some personal restraints. I wanted to understand how open is ZS for allowing someone to do wfh or if it is hybrid how frequent will it be.

What do you do with a senior manager who seemed lost all the time? Granted he is new in the engagement - we both are. We talked through things a couple of times but he does not seem to understand it and keeps on asking about the same things. Does not know what is happening on the file or does not seem to care to learn about it. Would only know about things that come through his emails, and would only care where things are at when we are reporting to the partner.

I have below offers Im considering and further negotiation is not possible because of budget constraints.

DBS is my current client company and offered 20 LPA as I resigned.

DBS : 20LPA Fixed + 5LPA variable (Associate)
Wipro: 21 Fixed + 10% variable( Team lead, B3)
Virtusa: 21 Fixed + 10% variable( Senior consultant, Tier 2)

What is your firm’s work from home policy? I’m technically allowed to work from home but the partner prefers that I’m in the office, but he works from home or remotely while traveling somewhat often. Some days I just feel that I’ll be more productive from home. My office is a 30-40 minute drive and sometimes I just prefer to roll out of bed and start working. I always feel guilty when I work from home though. Another partner hasn’t set foot in the office since March 2020.

I commute 1.5 hours to work and 1.5 hours back. Up at 6, home ~8. Don’t even like the field and billable hours..more of a small transactional firm person. Took a job out of desperation. What do I do?

My firm gives it to us on paper at the end of every month and thats it. Let’s talk about biglaw annual evaluations. EVERY 1st year associate I spoke to said they got stellar evaluations. (I promised I only asked close colleagues and in a non-gunner way). Has anyone ever tried going for therapy without knowing exactly what they’re trying to fix? I don’t think I have any diagnosable problems (to my knowledge), but I get caught up in my own head sometimes and get bogged down with anxiety/ self-esteem issues. Other than having a gap on your resume, why is it bad to leave a job without another one lined up? Will hiring companies assume you got fired?

The clients that always nitpick the bill are the same clients that will ignore you all week and then respond at 2:30 on a Friday and say they’re available for a call at 5 pm. Change my mind.

I graduated law school at 29, started working at 29-30. I’m now 31 with 90-100K in savings… I feel behind because all my colleagues seem to have hundreds of thousands saved. I know it’s stupid to compare but I live very frugally because I just feel behind. Is this common? (I’m not considering the student debt I have.)

Our new junior associate’s billable hours are so low in first 3 month. Requirement is 1800 billable hours annually, but it is low 1400 pace from calculating from average weekly billable hours. Any suggestions for what to do in the person’s 3 month review?

M&A Hours Check. What’s your year end target looking like? Think about 80 percent of the firm’s group is not going to hit hours. Not sure how sustainable this is. Definitely have great leadership that are swallowing the brunt of it, but I’m curious if any survivors of 08 ever had a really bad hours year and still survived. Obviously M&A takes the brunt during these times, but are firms thinking that they want to be poised for when things return back to normal or are they about to let the ball go
