So anyone Opting In??
I think it’s definitely beneficial to take classes & certifications to add more capabilities under your belt - such as project mgmt, finance, hr, acct mgmt, social, etc. Things that would enable you to have diverse responsibilities in your EA role. The diverse responsibilities give you access to branch out in one of those fields. Wishing you luck & happiness :)
KPMG 1 - there will always be roles for highly skilled EAs. The work isn't going to get done by itself.
Thank you for this!
Go in a different direction and/or take some classes in another field. The EA roll is fading.
Meet with an EA recruiter who can help you find EA roles. I highly recommend The Larko Group if you're in the Chicago area.
Thank you!!!
Agree with Razorfish - more skills will make you a more compelling candidate. But the truth is that the job market overall is terrible right now and comptition for the few available jobs is fierce. You can't be lackadaisical in your search and expect to find something. If you're serious about finding a new/better job, you have to put a lot of effort into it. "Not being too active" is not going to cut it.
Took me 7 months to get a new job and I had to get aggressive. I emailed EVERY recruiter who contacted me on LinkedIn in the past year, when I applied to a job online I would follow that up with an email to the person who posted the job, and even called a few. I felt like a stalker but it worked.
A lot of places have a hiring freeze so that might be why you're barely seeing anything.
Have you been looking for part-time as well as contract jobs that are remote and not necessarily in your town. These roles sometime turn into full-time positions...
I've only been looking for full time roles but I'll start checking out PT one. Thanks for the tip! :)
