Their bind is not your task - you can't actually do anything other than feel guilt which is not helpful to you.
Your task is to provide them with notice.
Don't apologize, thank them for the opportunity and experience.
Congratulations on your new job!
You talk to your boss, tell them it’s a great opportunity that you can’t pass up. Give at least two weeks notice and do everything you can to ensure a smooth transition, and tell them you’ll do so. Do not send them an email to give notice. If you’re wfh, send them an invite to chat, preferably by zoom/video, or by phone if video isn’t an option for whatever reason. After the call you follow up with a written resignation to your boss. Good luck and congrats on the new job!
This is the way.
Just say you’ve received a new opportunity, and you appreciate the time you’ve had at X company/ with this manager. Your last day will be XYZ pending the 2 week resignation period.
Write a good handoff doc, meet with everyone a couple of times, and on your last day sign off by 2pm.
Oh also- blind copy your personal email on everything with HR.
I felt the same way when I left for my current gig, but at the end of the day I knew if they were a good team they would be supportive of you spearheading your own path.
I put individuals calls on calendars with the whole immediate Account team, explained high level why I was leaving and why it was BEST FOR ME, and thanked them for their contribution on my professional journey and added personal touches/examples for why I was appreciative of the experience and opportunity together. To this day, we all remain in touch and they thanked me for being kind and professional. No burned bridges
