Why do you want to work at this school? Classroom management?

At the end when they ask you if you have any questions about working at the school specifically.

I want to see how teacher candidates react and respond to the random, unexpected things that happen in the classroom. So my favorite..... Tell we which character in either “Wizard of Oz” or “Winnie the Pooh” is most like you and why. I learn a great deal not only from the answer, but seeing how they react to the “out of nowhere” question. That said, I had second interviews three times last summer. I was almost always able to use real life experiences to show how I handled difficult scenarios and situations. Know that everybody is trying to find a candidate that “fits.” But remember that goes both ways. I am blessed to have found an awesome fit all the way around because two of those clearly weren’t. Your “fit” is out there too!

like

What prepared you for this position. Scenarios... A parent is upset about a grade, what do you do? What is your classroom management system? How would you go about meeting new faculty and making connections with them? What do you know about the culture of the school? Do you know the mission and vision statement? How would you promote equity in your classroom? How do you cteate student engagement in your lessons?

How well do you get along with others (staff)?

I’m on the interview committee at my school. For me, the question that I think holds the most merit for our candidates is this: What is your favorite OR most recently read Young Adult book?

If you don’t have a good off-the-cuff answer to that question, I don’t want you on my team.

Our district has no teacher input for hiring at all... unless you are asked for input on your student teacher.

I have above average experience, have a finance background degree but keep failing the initial application stages (before the interview stages) and then watch people on LinkedIn with less experience get roles with top banks.
