What are jobs and companies that require similar skills like consulting, digital marketing, etc. but have excellent WLB and are more slower paced...? I can’t imagine working my life away for client demands in a fast paced environment for the long term. Also the longer I progress in my role, the more I have to focus on sales and I hate sales so much 😢
Got an incredible project and right before starting they told me I had to do a drug test. I am not 100% sure if Ill pass it and I am not sure I should risk it. Any advice? Risk it or say something?
How many days of PTO do y’all typically take while staffed and how do you socialise it? Feels like I will be letting my team down if I take time off, especially if its more than 1 Friday, since there will be no one to take over my workstreams and ensure they are completed on time. Other members are working as hard if not more and adding my shit on top of that feels cruel. We’re on a long term project so no opportunity to be on the beach soon (thats a good thing I know). Pls help.
Question: The company that you are working for offers cloud managed services and has been approached by a potential client. What are some areas (or red flags) you would consider before responding to their RFP? ( I started putting together a response but would love to get your insights) Answer: 1) Understanding of current annual spending vs spending if they adopted our cloud services 2) Clients expected growth rate 3) Regulatory requirements depending on industry (medical, fed etc)
Is there a best practice for categorising your experiences on your external/public/LinkedIn type resume? Do you group it by project or by the type of work you did? Any other ideas?
Having some cold (not Covid symptoms), but don’t want to ask for a sick day (performance, guilty to team, falling behind on project). Question is: why feel pressure for something normal for this job?

Does anyone live on Forsyth Street in the LES? I’m thinking of taking an apartment around there but with the construction project I worry about noise, and have seen articles about tons of crime on that street due to the fencing blocking off visibility.

Just read the sad news of the death of 1st AD John Nolan. (See wheresspot for thread) While I hope be didn't contract Covid on either of the 2 sets mentioned prior to his illness and death, if it comes back that he did, we need to have a long hard chat about what went wrong. Condolences to his family. Truly horrible news.
It's health insurance season in the United States of "Every Person for Themselves." Is there a silver lining to a primarily coinsurance based plan, rather than mostly copays? This is a first for me.
Can anyone provide insight into Y Media Labs? They were very vague about salary and levels when I chatted with a recruiter.
To be FTM here, baby is due in September. What kind of support i’d need in initial few months? Both me and my husband will be on parental leave for 5 months and 3 months respectively plus will have some family members staying with us for initial 2-4 weeks non of them have managed newborns before. I’ll be hiring someone to cook for us or at-least help with cooking. Do I need nanny specialized in newborn care? if yes should I go with full time or part time in the first 3 months?
Man, prepping for interviews is like a 2nd job on top of consulting. Can't wait for that moment when it's all over and I hand in my 2 weeks.
If you exceed your billable hours Monday through Thursday and don’t have much work to do on Friday, is it okay to leave early?
I am hoping for some advice. I was a young mom (17 when pregnant) and ended up having three kids by 23. I’ve since pulled myself up by my boot straps and am doing well in my career and have seen good trajectory. The thing is, it’s always nagged at me that I never went to college. I don’t want to go to college in the traditional sense but my new employer offers some tuition reimbursement (if related to the job). I’m in tech, specifically software. What should I look into?
Anyone here from Monitor Deloitte in London? Have an interview coming up and would like to ask a few questions...
To all consultants out there: I am rather introvert and quite confcall - how did you learn to boost your confidence? Culturally I come from a region where self promotion is seen negatively. You always down-play.
