Looking at HRIS options with a client, 35 staff. They are currently using Namely but it is clunky and doesn’t include some of the things they want (integrated ATS, documents, onboarding and offboarding checklists, time off tracking). ADPRun current payroll and are considering Rippling, BambooHR, and Paylocity. Using JazzHR as an ATS right now but would like to fold that into the HRIS so that they can use those dollars for a more robust perf mgmt system. Any thoughts on these or others?
Personally I would wait until the next day. I would hate to be fired via email while being sick. Regardless of relationship status.
I think the professional (and smarter) thing to do is to wait until the next day.
Rising Star
I would prefer to do it in person
I think waiting until the next scheduled work day might be good. Sometimes having a good reputation is better than saving a couple of dollars.
Yep, agreeing with those who have commented. We had layoffs scheduled for the end of a month and one of those folks was sick with flu for several days before, and during the process. We waited until he returned to work.
Do the right thing and wait until you can terminate them in person. You'll be rid of them soon, anyway, so what's another day?
I'd wait. It sounds like a sticky situation considering they are dating one another and both being let go. Sounds like a nightmare if they are the type to make a fuss. Do everything by the book in this scenario would be my general advice.
Imagine if YOU were the person who called out sick, then maybe checked your email to see that you’re fired. Maybe you were on your phone, in bed…or just coming back to the office next day. How would that make you feel?
Wait until they’re back in the office.
Hmm. I'd just wait for them to return. The result will still be the same.
I generally make multiple attempts to schedule a term in person or over a zoom or call. Only a few times has someone been so unresponsive or elusive that I’ve had to fire via e-mail which was essentially job abandonment at that point.
I would do them the courtesy of waiting on the next scheduled work day. There is no harm in trying. They are going to get terminated anyways, might as well right.
