I have two GPAs:
1. 3.06 (includes all UG courses including transfer credit & some major courses)
2. ~2.9 (only UG courses taken at my 4-year university)
Which one will adcoms use for admission?

Lol 3.06 and 2.9 is not a significant difference

likesmart

I would disagree. That’s the difference between making a 3.0 cutoff and not

likefunny

The 3.0 is not a significant cutoff for top business schools. The significant cutoffs are around 3.5-3.6 and 3.7-3.8. Between being okay (.5, .6), to being good (.7, .8). You’re solidly in the bad range. So no, it does not matter

OP - I’m at a top FT program right now and have advised dozens of folks on bschool admissions. More than happy to chat and provide guidance, if you want. However, let me offer some quick thoughts:

- AdCom’s will only consider your 4-yr undergrad GPA
- As noted above, the difference in both options is negligible and you’re squarely in the bottom 10% of the class as far as your GPA is concerned
- You’ll need a very high GMAT to counter it if you have any chance at a top 15 program. Target 750+ for GMAT and 330+ for GRE
- Every other aspect of your application needs to be exceptional - story/essays, recs, gmat/GRE scores, etc.

Also, if you get into a top 20-30 program (there are a ton of great schools to choose from, btw), you’ll still have a ton of doors open for you so definitely don’t discount lesser ranked programs. In fact, some may say it’s better to be a ‘big fish’ in a small pond! Godspeed.

I agree!

I think you should address this in the optional essay, they will probably use both as factors

If you are showing an upward trend over your 4yr program and from the time before it, I think it'll be fine. If it is stagnant or a downward trend, you should also explain why.

I’m very lost here b/c there is a significant difference in both. Thanks 🐠 for your insights

I don’t think it’s going to matter either way

Is it a >= 2.95 so you can round up to 4?

*Round up to 3

I assume you can’t round up, considering they see your transcripts, but no it’s below 2.95

Of course, that makes sense. I appreciate your feedback. My odds for M7 aren’t great, so realistically looking at M18-M10

Why do some people choose to ridicule and tear others down in this bowl instead of providing support and encouragement? Smh that’s sad

OP what degree are you seeking?

OP, what does your transcript say from your 4yr?

Both gpas

I know the saying “if you’re not growing you’re dying”, but can’t you also grow in other areas that aren’t as measurable like growing new leaders, growing employee talent through training, growing your company culture, growing your efficiencies?

Hey folks. 3 YOE, working in tech at a great company, and making 135K TC in Austin.

Have an admit at Columbia and received 30K in aid each year, so I anticipate paying 110K in tuition. With cost of living in upper Manhattan, estimating an additional 35K each year, so 180K total cost.

I want to stay in tech post MBA, but explore faang companies and product roles. Is this worth the cost? I figure I could make a jump in comp at least?
