I have two job offers in front of me: option A: join a team I’ve worked at before, where I have C-suite support, with one person in particular guiding and advocating for me, but fewer exit opportunities because this company operates in a niche. Option B: join a team where I have to prove myself from scratch, build networks and relationships, and potentially have better exit opportunities because it’s a globally and locally recognized brand name. Which would you choose? Location, comp are same.

I think the key question that hasn’t been asked here is how do you feel about that niche industry? If you could see yourself there long term, definitely A. But if you KNOW this is just another stepping stone to another spot, then B.

like

Second BCG - related is what stage of career are you at? B may present a short term high growth option where you’re growing a lot due to not having the comfort and having to prove yourself. While A may remain an option with your connections down the road coming in at a higher level having learned more

like

Easily A for me, but thats a purely personal decision which depends on how you see yourself and your career playing out. If there is a path to reach increasing levels of responsibility and comp progression over time, I would take that any day over brand / prestige and an amorphous future path
