I have used butterfly needles for phlebotomy since the beginning of my Nursing career. I recently switched jobs and my current employer doesn’t want to buy butterfly needles as they are more expensive than the straight needles. They have asked that we start using the straight needles and even took away the last butterfly needles we had. I feel anxious and uncomfortable doing phlebotomy on everyone with the straight needle. Should I mention this to my manager? How can I approach this situation?

I've struggled with excess for as long as alcohol has been a part of my life. I'm at a low point after having too much on Sunday, being unproductive on Monday, and barely sleeping. It's this moment that makes me want to finally change. But I know when I'm feeling better, I'll think I can do this all again and next time it'll be fine. Corporate suggested me for a DON position in TX. I currently live in SD and work as ADON. Corporate said minimum salary would be 115k. Then flew me there for 2 weeks to see the building (nursing home). They all loved me, as does corporate. But my offer today was 90k. When I said I was told 115k they countered with 100k. I said I’d think about it over the weekend but really am looking for at least 110k. Have to sell my house and move and rebuy w higher interest rates. What do you think??

Within the next 18 mo I will be considered for taking over a nurse management job in the OR. This is a small rural hospital in the Midwest. I’m already currently absorbing some of the job responsibilities, especially when the current manager is OOT. I do not get compensated for the extra work done in her absence but will soon be expected to train into that roll in the months prior to her retirement.
