Suggestions for a birthday gift for myself? My boyfriend has been asking for weeks & I keep saying nothing but he is not having it. I have a comfortable life & can’t think of anything other than a nice night out, which is already common in our relationship. I suggested a nice set of cookware because I enjoy cooking on our nights in but he jokes it’s a little too domestic. An engagement is already in the works so jewelry seems silly & I WFH so even high end shoes/bags can wait. Thoughts?
Hi Fishes, I'm working at an Israel-based publically listed company in insurance software solutions (i.e. a product-oriented company). We have multiple technical and non-technical positions open with us ranging from DevOps Manager to Lead Analyst and product manager, all for Bangalore Location(however, we are on WFH since March 2020). If anyone needs a referral in an innovative, evolving, and dynamic IT company, with a really good work-life balance, then do ping me.
How many of y’all are going to seek out a WFH gig when this is all over? I have to admit, I have really been enjoying it.
Any self employed people (I’m a sole trader since May 2021) in the US with suggestions for disability insurance policies? I would want one that pays to 65 with inflation adjustments. I just got denied a policy by Northwestern Mutual because of my ADHD. I sit in front of a laptop all day, and work from home.
Any recommendations for a 4k monitor? My new job gives me WFH allowance for my desk and I’m looking to upgrade from my 1080p 27 inch Dell monitor. Any recs would be appreciated!
A little positivity. I really love the Progressive campaign. I thought the Flo stuff was ok. Some good, some average or below. But with the addition of Jamie and the rest, I think they’re really great. These new work from home spots are really fun and smart. https://www.adweek.com/agencies/working-remote-is-going-about-as-well-for-progressives-flo-and-co-as-it-is-for-you/
🤣 WFH vs HR
My professional life at the moment is far from ideal. I’ve been on quarantine (long story, but a good one) for the last seven years. Royalties from my books don’t pay the bills. My entrepreneurial pursuits remain hampered. For the interim, I’ve been looking for a remote opportunity where I can leverage my skills in marketing, sales, social media, and elsewhere for a decent sum. I have a social media presence which, in recent years, reached millions. There has to be something exciting I can do.
Does anyone have any insight as to when things are going to go “back to normal” in California in terms of needing to appear in person for smaller status conferences, hearings, depositions, etc. instead of doing it via zoom? I am permanently remote but a lot of my cases are in courts that are a good 1.5-2 hour drive from me and I’m starting to feel anxious about when I’ll have to start going in person for these types of things because of the distance.
I gave notice because I am moving to another state for personal reasons and now my boss wants me to be fully remote. At first he was 100% ok with me being fully remote but now he is discussing dropping my pay 50% to allow me to be remote. Like no... am I right to consider that absolutely wrong given that I would be doing literally the same job I have been doing and putting in the same hours as anyone else? I was remote already throughout Covid so idk what the issue is now
Can anyone who got a full-time remote offer with better pay from overseas firms share his/her experience?

How often do you procrastinate on the job and how often do you get in trouble for it? Feel like I’ve gotten worse with WFH…
Senior management at a small multi million business. I know that I want to leave the state in about a year and a half - nothing to do with the company but they probably won’t offer fully remote. Wtbs how much time is reasonable to give notice even without another offer? I was thinking two months? I obv care about the company and don’t want to leave them in a tight spot
Looking for the best pair of headphones to use in the office or when WFH in a noisy place
Non-US / UK consulting partners - I have been long following the posts here. What I realise is that the US partners feel very strongly that being a B4 partner is best opportunity once could have (maybe just followed by FAANG). With the $1M+ pay and a pension, potentially it makes a lot of sense. With no pensions and some of start ups, Tech companies paying more in other countries, global roles (vs local focus) - what are your views about considering opportunities outside B4
How do you do vacation if you’re on a longer, open ended freelance gig? If I’m gonna be there for 4-5 more months, I don’t wanna miss all opportunities for summer trips. Can I take 2-3 days off ever?
Is it worth making the move from EY Tax SM3 to KPMG managing director? Is this a lateral move? What salary should I expect (MCOL)?
Any one do the SF to South Bay travel? I might need to do it for a few months and need to know how bad it gets. Car vs caltrain. Would love to know your thoughts!
For FS audit people - how does banking compare to funds? I’ve never been on funds and want to know what to expect before Currently in banking and sick of tedious control testing..
Hi! I have an exploratory interview coming up with a hiring manager at a startup. I reached out to her on LinkedIn, asked if she would be open to connecting and she is. I’m very excited about this opportunity and want to make a good first impression. Meeting is via zoom so I’m treating it like an actual interview. What are some good questions to ask? Appreciate the help :)
I’m interested in Anomaly, can anyone give me some things to know about them? Or if I’m in the right direction? Average AE salary?
I am 22 and started putting money into a Roth 401k due to advice from FB...then heard Traditional is better because our tax rates will be much lower in retirement. What is the consensus here?
cloud ☁️ fish 🐟: i am interested in learning more about the cloud space although i haven’t worked on any cloud projects. would getting newbie certs like AWS Cloud Practitioner or Azure Fundamentals be a good starting point? does anyone even care about these certs? thanks!!
I’m curious what the opinions are on the process they have seen or used to get promoted. I’ve never had it happen in my career this way but in my mind, your work speaks for itself, you advocate for yourself, ask for a promotion when it’s not been offered. Then you get promoted after you make your case if you do qualify. The way I’ve seen it (& a reason I’m leaving my current company) is where they only promote people when they’ve threatened to leave or received a different offer. Thoughts?
Question on RSUs from tech companies: When the comp includes $100k RSUs vesting over 4 yrs, is it a norm that you are awarded $100k worth RSUs at the end of every yr you stay? I.e. you get full $100k (minimum) from yr 4 and beyond? Got an offer from a large tech firm with an equity comp of $100k RSU (4-yr vesting) in year 1 but only 30-50% ($30-50k) are awarded each yr (vesting over 4 yrs) from yr 2 onwards. How are RSUs from FAANGS structured for these positions - Product/Sales/ financ
Does Accenture have a Roth 401k plan?
Deloitte fish: were you able to successfully expense a crib mattress and hatch baby white sound machine with your well being subsidy?
Anyone willing to connect and provide coaching on how to get into MBB or management consulting in general? I recently have an interview with one of the MBB for EM position, I don't think I would get it, but interested in learning more as I've always wanted to do management consulting. I plan to reapply in a year or so.
Hi Everyone! I’m an S1 doing business tax. I’m looking to transition into either M/A tax or transaction tax next year. I have about 2.5 years of experience in core tax. Any insight (WLB, salary, general trend) about either of them for someone in NYC? Thank you all! I appreciate it!
Switch to another consulting firm for 20-25% raise + bonus but same level (manager) or wait for promotion at EY this year but still less money. Doesn't look like EY will match the competing offer.
