Bad idea. It will always circle back to you- it's much better to share feedback with them directly in the right setting.
You accept the inevitable punishment that you deserve.
Hmm, I prefer a world where we all are honest and straightforward with our feedback and no one will feels the need to hide their review; managers will also have incentive to improve
So many managers here... as long as truthful, write whatever needs to be written and hold your ground.
If accurate, it's the right thing to do but you will be punished. Politics and tact will get you farther than raw honesty
Be proactive. Reach out to them and talk through it, If you know it's getting back to you anyway. Buy them a drink and have a talk.
Write to HR and get it backed out! Not a smart thing to do!
Thanks people. Wrote to HR and working on changing the language. Will address my concerns in 1-1 setting with my manager.
I only ever write upward feedback for people who I truly care about and we have a relationship where we can basically serve it straight without the butter. I will also put in enough information for them to know who I am and call them after wards too about it. They have all always appreciated it. This feedback is only visible to them after they have a certain minimum number of responses.
I dont think the bs double standard is limited to consulting at all
Agreed with DD1
That's a paddling OP.
Im interested to hear how this goes for you : especially the 1-1 setting. Follow up when it happens please and thank you!
Was this one of those: "Hey, I'm writing a good review for you so you had better do the same!" Type situations where they never asked for your feedback?
I always wonder how people can be oblivious to the reviews that they will get from others. That person you didn't task until 5:30 Friday is going to remember that, and so will the person whose work you took credit for even though you couldn't understand it.
You can try to discredit that feedback, but you can't be surprised...
It's human nature and a representation of power dynamics that have been around since there have been hierarchies. Get used to it. And try to be better when you get there.
