I would provide weekly updates rather than monthly

like

I don’t have stuff to share weekly, monthly updates are filled with bs I make up, can’t do that every week, they usually forget by month end what happened last month

I don't see the problem. As long as no one is complaining, you are hitting all your deliverables, client is happy, boss is happy, what's the problem?

Work smarter, not harder. Keep living the dream!

Are you billing the client for 8 hours while only doing 4 hours of work? I'm not asking morally. I'm asking from the standpoint of, if someone asked you to detail the work you're doing, would there start to be questions? Quite surprised that everyone on the project is so disconnected that they haven't noticed this. Is it a contract that is winding down anyway?

Project is confidential so they don’t ask plus it’s long term asset based work

Hi! I have two offers and I’m not sure what to do. One is with a small firm that serves as outside counsel to medical practices (leasing, employment issues and acquisitions are primary work load) and the other is in-house for a pharmaceutical company (managing outside counsel, vendor contracts, privacy). The firm pays much better (1800 hours, flexible wfh) but I feel like the experience in house would go further in becoming a GC down the road. Please help!

Since George Floyd's murder and the sudden Corporate America "wokeness," I (black guy) have been routinely contacted by unacquainted Partners who explicitly state something to the effect "Client X wants diversity, so we'd like you on this deal..." It really comes across as tone deaf and completely patronizing. I appreciate the efforts to diversity (albeit forced), but Partners really need to learn how to not be so supercilious in the approach. You don't have to overtly state that I'm the quota.

I’ve read on here that sometimes they will let you go day of and pay you out for two weeks but I don’t see why any firm would do that for somebody not currently performing billable work...
