I personally feel like given how busy our life is, it is hard to be friends with people whose interests don’t align with mine. What kind of events are you going to? I know due to pandemic it may be tricky but try attending meet up and Facebook events for activities that you are interested in. I met a lot of likeminded people this way when I moved.

For sure, COVID has limited some of the events I'd do like industry/subject-specific events with like-minded folks (trying not to dox myself). I go to meetups and volunteer regularly. One nuance - I don't drink much or like the bar scene and that's where a ton of events tend to be.

Are you initiating with the people you meet? Get their contact and follow up regularly?

Ahhh well that's fair. I've just gotten used to the fact that as an extrovert, the bulk of keeping up with friendships will fall on me if I'm befriending an introvert. Although I have a 2 or you're out rule. If I invite you out twice and you reject, it's on you to invite me out next time.

Our district does not give sick days if a teacher has Covid so if a teacher tests positive, that teacher must use his or her own sick days. If a teacher gets Covid or tests positive, 10+ sick days are gone because of district policy. Some teachers have lost 20-30 days because they tested positive 2-3 times even though they have no symptoms. Because of this, some teachers have stated they will not test and will just come to school unless their symptoms are too severe.

WHY are we so nasty and vindictive to each other? Got an entire 30 day block from Blacks In Tech for pointing out that a conversation about the COVID-19 vax did not begin from a respectful place. IMO starting a respectful convo on that topic means inviting people to share their “reasons”. This person started the discussion from the angle that Black people have “misconceptions” - which plays into the narrative that we are too dumb to evaluate the info and land on a decision which is right for us.

Took LOA last year, multiple months. Recovered from burnout driven by long hours during covid. But feel like I'm now experiencing burnout in a different form. Don't feel drained but I'm just unmotivated to do anything in life and work. I don't want to eat, exercise, go places, or work. I don't want another break from work, I want to keep doing things (eg not so drained I want to take months off) but this seems like burnout and I don't know what to do.
