I haven’t started yet, but have had a couple of Accenture PMs reach out regarding open roles for upcoming projects. All meetings have gone fine and promising, only to lead up to a rejection that they’re moving with another resource. Does Accenture move quickly in resourcing for projects?

Don’t worry about staffing until you have started. It is great that you are having these calls already but focus on your onboarding first and then worry about staffing.
To answer your question, though, yes. The company does tend to move quickly with staffing.

I’d consider it being led on if they say “let me know tomorrow if you want it,” and then saying no. I understand the process a bit more now, but feel that the lead may have accidentally misspoke a few times

Everything about this thread is off putting and annoying. Just wait to start, figure out how the company actually operates, then find a project. Assuming you're actually a consultant like your title says, you're a dime a dozen and no one is going to go out of their way to staff you unless you're a national or global industry leader or highly specialized SME. Which you wouldn't be hired as consultant if you were. For the vast majority of the firm, we're all very easily replaceable and no manager or above is going to go out of their way to waste their time trying to add someone to one of their projects who hasn't even walked in the door yet for their first day to get a badge. If you were pulled into the firm through connections, maybe try reaching out to them. Otherwise, get in line with everyone else, start networking, and hopefully you have a personality and decent enough skills to make yourself stand out from the crowd.

At this point, you're just coming across as entitled by complaining about a moot point. And the more you share, the less competent you come across.

No bench time

It's like a competitive job market. Deep bench; a lot of resources but not as many open roles

I mean it’s probably because you’re not even employed here yet. They’ll prioritize someone onboarded first - I’m sure it’ll change once you start!

How am I rubbing PLs the wrong way if they’re reaching out to me via HR?

Never heard of a situation where a HR Partner would reach out to a person who has not yet been onboarded to have a discussion about staffing. You are not in the system yet. If it was your HR recruiter, not HR Partner, than it would have made some sense since it would have been some names the recruiter shared so that you could connect to create that initial network. Note that there is a difference between HR Recruiter and HR Partner in Accenture. HR Recruiter does not go beyond than hiring you into the firm. It is the HR Partner who would help you get staffed. And welcome to the world where you will have to get used to being rejected because there are so many resources out there that can be easily staffed or replaced. Decisions are never concrete until you get your role ID and WBS. Welcome to the hunt.

That is very unique…

funny

enjoy your time on the bench because once you get staffed you’ll give your life to get nothing in return
