I haven't worked Saturdays in over 5 years. I have an opportunity for better bank but it requires every other Saturday 8:30 -noon. You're supposed to get half day off during the week but I've been there done that as salary and staffing it usually doesn't happen. So with that said what would be the calculation in salary you would feel good about to accept the position? I don't mean to tell the new employer I want more money because of Saturdays but baking in the amount for myself.

Personally, I would aim for at least $4K… here’s my reasoning.

I’m assuming an “hourly” rate of $30/hr x 1.5 for “overtime” (even thought it’s not overtime, it’s inconvenient) x 3.5 hours x 26 weeks.

like

Thank you I thought I was over analyzing. Our math is very close.. I calculated my current salary x 4hrs 26 Saturday's. I can imagine the hassle of holiday weekends having to switch around to get it off etc. Also the flip side an employee asking for it off and I have to switch. As of now it's a bonus and easy 4 day weekend.

My boss just gave their notice (3rd boss in 2 months) and told me to get a new job based on “mud within the executive level” of the organization (~5 years, 2 rebrands, etc). I’ve been there for 18 months. Looking at the recession expected to hit Canada in early 2023, I feel stuck; hiring is slow everywhere but jumping ship now means I’ll be the “last in the door” at most places. How would you navigate this? The decision will be made either way, but ideally I could move into something better.
