I don’t think so. My roommate is S& and we make roughly the same amount. It actually sounds like PWC/S& bonus ranges might even be higher.
Our comp doesn’t change automatically when hitting EM. Still goes with year-end so if most ppl hit EM in year 2, year 3 comp is around 240-290 depending on what ratings you’ve been getting.
Most people hit early in year 3, so after 2yrs + some months.
Pro
Comp doesn’t pull away from S& OW LEK etc. It pulls away massively from B4.

Other firms had layoffs - Accenture for example.
I’m a millionaire.
Former s& current mbb (need to update title) Comp does pull far away. The difference is not by level but by promotion time. S& takes way longer to promote, you can be stuck at senior for much longer and manager -> sm -> d -> principal takes almost twice as long that at MBB. Mck can be senior to partner in 7 years (2 associate, 2-3 em, 2 ap then p) Not uncommon for directors to stay at the same level in s& for 4 years, and sa/m usually each take 3 years. So the comp at each level may be the same but progression and therefore comp over time will be way higher at mbb
Thank you both, the grind in data searching/pulling, almost zero based slide creation, politics of promotions, and the focus on the cost side of things are mostly driving my motivation to jump ship. Nice to know it gets better at least on those aspects.
Glassdoor is pretty accurate.
Check Charles Aris comp reports
Thanks this was super helpful, particularly for expected exit compensation and YoY raises (crazy that 2019 was 7% compared to 17% for 2018...sign of the times). Unfortunately it seems like they aggregate all firms together in their analysis.
AlixPartners: We’re at about the same level (maybe slightly higher) until principal / director. Some of my team mates are ex-MB and they jumped here to make more.
Former MBB principal - Alix’s TC is about 20% higher at the Director level. I suspect our top MDs make less than MBB partners of similar tenure due to our ownership structure and higher comps at the VP to Director levels.
