I hear some things like when we go back into the office, it will be half the number of people compared to usual, etc. To promote social distancing.

But realistically, is that gonna help at all? You..

..can't really social distance while commuting (if you don't drive), or in a meeting, or by the coffee machines, etc. It feels like going into the office is an all or nothing affair. Anybody know how it would work?

like

Our tentative plan is about 30% of staff will return when stay at home orders are lifted, daily wiping down of workstations with bleach wipes, hand sanitizer throughout, temp checks, staggering the times that people are in the office to minimize contact. Phase 2 will increase to maybe 70% of staff. Phase 3, everyone is back but people with underlying conditions won't be required to work in the office.

like

Also, people in the office will be required to stay 6 ft apart even when talking. In phase 2, meetings of up to 10 can take place.

like

Can’t social distance forever lol. Going back to the office will only happen when we can safely be around people again

Considering the data coming out is showing that people under 50 and no underlying issues are basically fine then yeah I think we can use a targeted approach to go back.

Yes, that’s what targeted approach means. We can’t continue on the path of the government subsidizing us and our unemployment numbers increasing by 5-10million per week.

It doesn’t make sense to keep 50% of our workforce at home if they are barely affected by the disease. This approach also helps with herd immunity, which still isn’t proven but does work with other diseases.

Weird way to announce mass layoffs.

I was more optimistically thinking WFH from everyone who is able indefinitely but I guess that is more pertinent for lots of companies who can't work remotely effectively or at all

Anyone have experience negotiating maternity leave? Presumably you didn’t negotiate until after you received an offer, but how did you confirm what the company’s actual policy is (e.g. if you’re eligible for parental leave and/or 100% STD on day 1 then it might be moot and you wouldn’t even need to negotiate at all)? Did you negotiate being eligible for leave after you got the offer but as a hypothetical or did you actually tell them you were pregnant? I’m 8 weeks, expecting an offer.

Serious question- how on earth do first time parents pick out things for a registry? Like if you haven’t managed your own child, how do you know if you like this carrier or that? I’ve spent so much time reading the diff bw strollers (which clearly is the hardest decision) - bloggers, Buying Guides, etc- and my head is going to explode 🤯. Gift cards it is 😆

The insurance company I work for outsourced a huge majority of my work to a third party, ontellus 🤮. I am not longer able to bill for NPNP, SDT and CNOS. I received 5 separate NPNPs from ontellus that either had the incorrect case style, signature block or date. I also sent out an email today after the 5th incorrect NPNP that started with “I am honestly starting to feel like I am on the show Punk’d and waiting for Ashton Kutcher to pop into my office” continued in comments..
