Other struggling to find work? I graduated law school in 2018 and have had such a tough time. I started out at a boutique firm, but was laid off in Oct 2019 due to a restructuring decision. After months of searching, I finally landed another position at a boutique firm only to get laid off again one month later due to the pandemic. I look for work daily and have had a handful of interviews, but nothing has stuck. It’s difficult to handle the rejection and I just don’t know what to do anymore...
Im a recent grad on a tech implementation project for a small firm. I’m finding it challenging because I’m expected to know how to solution a user problem based on the system that I really don’t know all the ins and outs of. I enjoy the req gathering/PMO activities, but thinking of data mapping and integrations is such a new way of thinking than a typical strategy-based case study. Do strategy ppl find these tech implementation difficult?
About to get rolled off a project, manager thinks I’m underperforming. Has anyone gotten rolled off before and bounced back or do you usually get fired shortly after? This is the first time
Lol my firm halted all sales travel but continued client travel. Just waiting for someone to get sick so I can sleep in my own bed for more than 8 nights a month
My skin isn't the best and with WFH - I have been doing the basics : moisturiser and sunscreen everyday which has really helped. Next year, I'm likely to be back full time in the office and on client site - and I want to do the bare minimum makeup wise. Can someone provide me your "bare minimum" routines and also - makeup/skincare brands! :)
Any more word on the PwC Forensics layoffs? It appears to be going on in multiple markets.
Is it being on the ‘bench’ or ‘beach’? Bench implies wanting to get in the game to me. I look forward to my beach time, as rare as it is
Fired from big law and still unemployed 8 months out. I’m a mid level transactional associate. Is my legal career over?
Since graduating college 4.5 years ago I’ve worked at three marketing agencies averaging a year and two months at each. I took four months off earlier this year after a layoff to study data science. I’m now back in digital marketing on month six of my current job. How long should I stay at my current company? I’ve been told two years minimum which is unfortunate because if I leave in six months I’ll make a lot more money on the market.
I was laid off because they didn’t have enough work for me (despite assurances that it was all fine, no plans for layoffs etc). Since found a new job and it’s been slow, and my requests for work seem to be going into the ether. I know rationally it’s too soon to panic but I can’t get past that anxiety of being laid off again due to lack of work. Anyone been through this? How do you get your confidence back? (My work is my life. I don’t have much non-work stuff to focus on, which doesn’t help.)
I have been assigned 50% staffing but my Project manager expects me to put in 100% time as I am not staffed on any other project. Is it fair for him to expect this? I am upset as this affects my utility rate.
As a PMO, do you usually create the test plan for your project or is it done by the requirements/functional lead?
Any of you have side hustles - and how do u manage it? I’m PT running a not so demanding business & also trying to become a DJ Obv not gonna do consulting in the LT but dun wanna get fired now either
If you work over the firm shut down.. how do you charge your hours? For example if I worked 2 hours, would 2 be client and still 6 holiday?
If a CD assigns more creatives to a project than there are budgeted billable hours, is that squarely on him/her or is Account also culpable?
Do you know of any companies that are similar to Toptal or BrainTrust? Basically where once you get in, you don't necessarily have to go through full interview rounds for each new client? I'm not referring to the big consulting firms, but more for independents.
I am unable to manage my work and GMAT preparation. I work in IT Risk Advisory and the work culture (India 🙄) and hours are crazy (10-12 hours avg). I am behind my targets as per my study plan (targeting ~750) - can only manage to get in 1-2.5 hours of prep daily/alternate days, I try to study on weekends but it's difficult as I am burnt out from the work. Need advice from people who have faced and cracked this. I like my work and would prefer to grow and be a top performer as well

Why isn’t there a public accountants union? At least even at the staff level. These layoffs were handled like a group of unchecked overlords are expected to.
What’s the compensation expectation for a senior accountant role/job offer in the DC Maryland Virgina (DMV) area? Years of experience is from audit/public accounting 7 years.
In your opinion, $135k salary = what type of role/position/title/area of focus/years of experience/etc? If you are contextualizing to COL please share.
My husband suggested a gender reversal role play the other night (ie I (a female) dress in the traditionally masculine way and he dress as a woman) - he seemed really nervous suggesting it. In the same night he asked me to paint his nails with clear polish - is this him exploring his gender expression? How seriously do I take this? What can I do to support him if this is the case without making him feel threatened? Also, would appreciate any help in how to think about this myself as I want cont.
Traveling 75%, & alt travel a lot. Feels like I’m wasting $ on rent in home office city so I don’t want to renew my lease. But I guess it feels good to have a home. Anyone lived the nomad life?
I am benchmarking referral bonuses across professional services firms- particularly in management consulting. Can you please share if your org does this and if so how much and the criteria? I’ll start- we do 1k for a referral that results in an accepted offer and start with the firm.
🐠 who deal with severe chronic pain - Do you have a good way to talk to a new job (or I guess new project) about how sometimes you are just going to have to miss randomly or going to need a break to deal with the pain? —— please no able-bodied responses of just deal with it etc.
Anyone use and recommend the kneeling ergonomic chair? Debating ordering one because my home office chair is really uncomfortable!
Hey guys I’m interviewing for the solution engineer new grad program at salesforce for Dallas. I was wondering if anyone knew what tc I should expect as I’ve seen crazy high and crazy low numbers.
I know this might sound crazy, but leaving your phone at home whenever you go out has really helped me disconnect. And not just from work - it's helps with other addictions like IG and FB.

I don’t have a degree but consulting experience at Big 4. I learned you can get a bachelor degree in wine tasting, do you think it would still be accepted as a regular bachelor degree for future jobs?
