I heard so much about doing side hustles and I wonder what you'all do. I have tried blogging but it doesn't stick. I have no talent whatsoever. I know this may be a long ask but what should I do?

If you have the means to invest in learning new skills (rather than rely on ones you already have), you can take courses in coding or graphic design to start freelancing, or take the requisite courses for a real estate license in your state and do that on the side.

I am actually a developer so I code 9-10 hours a day already. Is there any thing else I can look into? I'm not looking for a side hustle just to make additional money. I want to find something interesting and consistent

Whatever you're looking for, is on the other side of consistency.

You should do something that you're good at and love to do! It's all about finding something you have to offer to others. A solution, service or item that they're willing to buy, essentially. You can do whatever it is you like! And you don't have to be an expert and drop everything rn and switch jobs. It's just a side hustle and you can learn more things to grow the skill.

I’m in the Puget Sound area and work with Washington State Opportunity Scholars (college) and Rainier Scholars (high school into college).

I worked with a similar non-profit program with college students in another state, and have been part of mentor programs with my alma maters before as well. In my experience, I find I prefer mentoring through the non-profits as opposed to my alma mater as the students have been more engaged. The non-profits often work with underserved students and in many cases they are/will be the first generation in their families to go to college.

Since you can code - look into those coding bootcamps for kids, or teach coding at a high school. I know of a group that re-furbishes computers to give away.

I also feel like I have no talent for a side hustle

Yeah, I feel like I was so focusing on school and jobs during my teenage year; now I know nothing outside of work

I’m in the same boat! Trying to find something as a side hustle and be as a career pivot as well! Thinking of video editing and design but little unsure to go with Adobe products or Apple Final cut. Thinking of the cost Adobe subscription $30 a month compared to Apple Final cut one time $299. Any one using both, any recommendations ?

like

Recommend adobe products—for video editing would recommend Adobe Premiere/After Effects over Final Cut.

First- you do have talent! Having a side hustle is a lot about believing and following your passions. Everyone has talents.

HI, I’d like to gauge folks for some input — I received an offer for $100k at a different company in the same industry. This is an HR / compensation analytics role as opposed to my current product analytics role. This is a less technical role and I’m worried that it may affect future prospects. For context, the offer is about 25k more than I currently make. Thoughts?

What do you put to get noticed or an interview when they ask you to leave a message to the hiring. Aka

Making the move into a Project Manager position. When chatting with an old friend about a possible opportunity, he asked what salary I’d want. I was super unprepared for that question, so I told him that and made up a number. Googled it after and realized I should’ve said 10k higher. If I’m offered a position, how would I go about navigating a higher salary than I already said?

In seeking to advance beyond an impending permanent burnout spinning wheels at lower levels, how does one best acquire a top position, say, Director, or apply their skills in a way that’s fulfilling again? Pivot is such a different kind of advancement, its not climbing or moving laterally in a game of chutes and ladders; its more redefining what it means to work with the guts and passion. With a company lead whose mind is out of the game and ready to retire and move on, how do I get his job?

I'm at a career juncture and have decided on a career in anti-money laundering as my new path. I'm also highly interested in additional education to further my career and am eyeing graduate school. Which is best? A law degree or a master's in international relations? Those are where my interests lie. I keep reading that JDs are valued in compliance but am wondering if a different graduate program is better for my goals. I already plan to obtain the CAMS certification. Thank you!

Hello. So I’m new to FishBowl. I came across this on Instagram and wanted to give it a try and share my experiences. So I currently left a Appellate Court Clerk position at a Supreme Court here where I live. I had high expectations when I got the job. I had been working at district court level for 4+ years with crappy pay and was finally feeling like I’ve arrived! Overall that job was worser then my last job and now I’m looking for better again. I could use some career searching advice 👏🏽
