I hired my recruiter 8 months ago, and yesterday was his last day. He put in his notice to work for his parents’ business. I’m so happy for him and extremely grateful for his hard-work. He was the most talented DR I managed in my career so I’m feeling sadder than I normally would about a resignation. When great people leave your team, how do you cope?

It's always tough to lose someone who is talented and well-liked, but it's par for the course. At least you can take solace in the fact that it wasn't anything you or your company did to drive him away. Be happy for him, keep in touch and start searching for his replacement. Who knows - you may find someone even better this time around!

like

Yeah, absolutely. Glad to be able to provide some support. That actually sounds like a really wise and insightful thing to do. Hope that things work out well and that you get someone just as great.

Awe I totally understand this. Is it someone you could keep in contact with outside of work?

like

Thankfully yes! We are connected on social media and I’m sure we will be in touch. It just sucks not having my battle buddy. I’m going through the grieving process, all the feelings just hit me at once this morning. But I’m starting to feel a lot better. Focusing on the positive! Thanks for your response ♥️

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

Hi Everyone! Between corona and snowstorms, “real life” is seeming as far off as anything else. Curious to hear what some people are doing to keep their employees engaged? Zoom happy hours are dead.. we did a few “virtual contests” (i.e., everyone submitted a pic of themselves dressed up for Halloween, allowing former years as entries, and made a slide show for voting the winner), but I’d like to go a little bigger. Suggestions??

SPHR exam- has anyone ever been “randomly selected” for an application audit? This just happened to me and the sheer amount of effort that is going to go into collecting all the documents almost makes me not want to follow through. Since I didn’t finish undergrad, they’re asking for a copy of my high school diploma or transcript and that itself is going to be an absolute nightmare to get hold of. Guess I’m not really looking for a solution here, just venting.

Is it true that companies just interview candidates for the sake of meeting a quota and then hire someone internally instead? Interviewed with Charles Schwab a while back and never heard anything. Interview went really well, at least that’s what I thought.
