I hope people in NYC take this monkeypox thing more seriously. In February 2020 I warned people about COVID but no one listened to me. Please, for ourselves and others, let’s keep this one from spreading.

1. It is less transmissible.
2. It is less deadly.
3. There are already safe and effective vaccines and treatments for it, unlike covid when it was first discovered.

likehelpfulfunny

You must have not read that WHO sponsored NTI paper about the monkeypox simulation … not something to discard so easily

I mean this in the kindest way, you should consider therapy. It sounds like COVID deeply affected your mental health and highly recommend talking to someone. It’s been a tough few years

like

Thanks, but I work in risk management and I speak up when I spot things to make people aware. I don’t think this is something therapy can help with lol, if therapy is meant to result in my unemployment

Ah yes 2 weeks to slow the spread

Seriously, I’m worried about all the children. They touch everything they see😐

It’s not contracted through the air. We don’t need more people cowering in fear. Please stop.

FA1: yeah I read about Ibiza… I mean, it’s just sexually transmittable. I would just caution physical contact with randos you aren’t sure about hygiene of. It’s unfortunate to say the least.

Got you beat OP I was warning about Covid in January of 2020 (I know, what a legend!). There’s not much you can do about viruses spreading in a huge incredibly dense city. The idea that there was some magic formula to stop people in NYC getting Covid is a fantasy. If you’re constantly scared of the next outbreak you should probably reconsider living in such a densely populated city.

I think it’s to never undermine a risk. Assess vulnerability and act early.

What would taking it more seriously look like for your average New Yorker? People have and will always live in close quarters in NYC because of the congestion, which translates to more transmissibility of diseases.

I think most people would agree that masks on 24/7 and lockdowns shouldn’t be mandated unless it’s a disease as deadly as Covid. I don’t know what else New Yorkers can do asides from not panicking and continuing to go about their daily lives.

The thing is lesions once mistreated can leave scarring… NYC people need to be careful so we remain as beautiful as we currently are….

I think they said the smallpox vaccine already works to treat it? Agree I don’t want it. But I don’t think it’s comparable to Covid.

M1: i agree, but I don’t want it at all.

Maybe this is a chance for all of you heathens to stop having unprotected sex

I don’t think I can help with this, I don’t do that in the first place.

One must not overreact over every single virus.

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I personally feel that it's absolutely ludicrous the US government is not enforcing or at least asking people to wear masks in healthcare environments like at the pharmacy, doctor's offices, or the hospital. We all wear ours behind the counter but I had a patient come in today WITH covid to pick up her prescription, no mask. I get that she already has it so she isn't worried, but what about the other people around??
