I interviewed at a small hedge fund about a year ago for an IR/BD role. Hit it off with the guy who would have been my boss. Ultimately, he hired someone with much more experience. I was passively looking so wasn’t a big deal and we left things on very good terms. He told me to keep in touch and that he would do whatever he could to help with my career. Fast forward, I’m now actively in the market. How can I reach back out? Not even necessarily for a job at his firm, but for networking purposes

Just send him an email/Linked In message with a brief note about meeting him as part of the job process last year and ask him if you could meet for coffee or a drink as you would like to get his advice on the industry/career/job market. If he gives you his time, make sure to treat him to the coffee/drink as a thank you.

Send them an email and just give them an update on who you are. You can also talk about your experience/what you discussed with them during your interview. Attempt to show how you've grown in your career/experience in that time as well.

You should have taken him up on his offer BEFORE you had this need. Call him and tell him you're going to be passing by next week and ask him out for a beer. Before you do THAT make a game plan about where you want to be in five years. When you're hanging out ask him about his life and his goals and then when he asks you about YOURS tell him you're hoping to get to his level someday... "in the meantime" this is where you are.

Main reason I’m leaving PA is the hours. Are hours something I should discuss during an interview? I’ve only allowed my resume to be submitted because the recruiter said the hours were within my range. My gut says yes because I don’t want to get stuck working unacceptable hours, but I also realize it sounds lazy. I’m a hard worker, but I value my personal time.

Had my four virtual interviews in the beginning of January and have not heard anything yet. Is this normal? In the interviews they said i would get the feedback in 3-5 days.

I reached out the my recruiter a few weeks ago and they said they would check with the HM to see what the status was and would get back to me in a few days. Still have not heard anything.

I know no news might be good news but I was wondering if this is normal or should I consider it a lost cause and not reach out anymore.

I graduated with my MBA in finance in 2020 and began working at a bank as a Management Trainee. 2 years later, I am an assistant to a financial advisor studying to become a financial advisor. However, I have to do this on MY time and not the bank's.
I am not in a Management position, I make as much as a teacher in a good district and I just don't feel my overall self worth at this job. Does anyone have any advice that can help this situation?
