I interviewed for a Sr. HRBP/Generalist role and based on my experience (11 years, 2 as a manager, education (Masters in HRM) asked for 120K - 130k range. They decided to move forward with the interview process and then made me an offer for 110k with $9,500 bonus and said will review comp again in October. This is much lower than I expected for the base. Any good negotiators with good tips to use to counter offer? One mistake I made is to let them know that my current job ends Feb 28th. Thank

Hmm, it's pretty close to your 120K range though. Do you have another offer you can leverage to negotiate with?

The bonus is tied to company performance. Im hoping to get another offer soon! Thank you.

If this is the role you really want I would explain that you were looking for the range of 120k to 130k and if they can meet you at $120k you would certainly want to consider the offer.
I always believe in being transparent and I would let them know that you have other offers that you are considering along with theirs but they are definitely the organization that you would like to continue your career at.
Because you shared with them your range of 120k to 130k if they really want you and want to button this up they may offer you 130k just to get you to accept. You need to decide if this is really the place you want to work at and be ready to accept if they come in at 120k or 130k.

You can always go back and say that you were targeting 120-130K as the base comp.
You can also do a generic search over the internet to understand what the compensation ranges look like for your Location/YOE/Job Role, and leverage that to initiate the discussion.

Hello all, i have. A question regarding compensation for a lateral move. I just received a job offer for an UA position from a competing cyber insurance carrier for $70,000 + bonuses. This job will be based out of San Francisco. I currently make $30/hour for the same role in Chicago, after OT it’s about $60,000. Do you think it would be wise to accept the offer? Thoughts in general?

Additional Posts in Human Resources

I have been in various customer service/support roles for the entirety of my career but am now interested in transitioning into a HR role. I am on the "Bench" with Disney GHRO (since March 1st) and have no idea if/when I will receive an offer. I have also been invited to interview for HR Contact Center Associate - Work from Home, ERC DLS Support at Amazon. Does anyone have any insight into either of these roles or advice? I do not yet have a degree but plan to go back this fall. Thanks.

Advice? NYC BigLaw— should be getting promoted to Coordinator after my end of year performance review, as I’ve already had Coordinator responsibilities 6+ mos. But, I’m so anxious that the current market will affect the pay increase they offer me. I know I’m indispensable to the team, especially right now, so should I try to get another offer as a backup to counter them in case it’s a lower promotion than I can accept? Is it worth even seeking a counter in this market or will it truly screw me?
