Hi IBM sharks 🦈
So I got interviewed for a project by the IBM team. The interviewer told me that its a go ahead from their end, now the client will assess my profile and if they too are fine with it, I will be onboarded?
Is it true that we have client interview as well? If yes then after how many days of interview by IBM team, client interview takes place?
Or its just that if the IBM team is fine with it, we are selected for the project?
Any inputs on this will really help :)
Tata Consultancy Hi fishies, I recently interviewed for a Big data dev role for Autodesk but it's via a third party called Applicantz. Initially the contract is for 1 year, which can be extended. There is also scope of Autodesk hiring permanently after 6 months or 1 year. Can anyone provide some reviews about Autodesk and third party Applicantz. Usually I would not have considered anything via a third party, but the company(Autodesk) seems great and work discussed seems good as well.

Hi folks, It's been 22 days since I joined birlasoft. But still I have not been mapped to any project and in induction I have been told this hiring is done based on an already existing requirement. Is it common to not get mapped after these many days of joining? Please share your experience!!! Birlasoft

This isn’t the definition of unethical. If they purposefully do this to many candidates it might be as a bait and switch. You don’t have to accept it though so it’s not unethical because they aren’t harming you aside from wasting some of your time.
Took 2 days of PTO for 8 hour long interviews, and prepped for a role i was never going to accept. I should send them a bill for my wasted time. We are in disagreement as to me this is unethical. I would have preferred a rejection / to not be brought in to Interview at all

“As they did not want to pay me a senior salary”. I guarantee that had nothing to do with it.
They felt you weren’t at a senior level, but liked you and wanted to give you a chance to prove yourself. If you’re not interested that’s fine; would you rather they had just told you no?
I’m not listening, I’m reading 🤣😝😂

How is this unethical? They interviewed you for a role and decided (rightly or wrongly) that you aren’t qualified for this role and instead made you an offer for a lower role. If you don’t want it, decline and look elsewhere. If you want it, negotiate. It’s pretty simple
You’re not getting it OP. Based on what you have shared, they weren’t wasting your time. Nor would they want to waste theirs. They interviewed you for a SA role and after evaluating you they ultimately decided associate was more suitable at this time at their firm. Nothing more, nothing less. And if you were genuinely asking us for our input, you would take everyone telling you the same thing as informative.

I promise you firms aren’t de-leveling you to save some cash, that individual salary delta is meaningless in the scheme of things. They offered you a lower level because they either believe you don’t have the necessary experience to succeed at a higher level or want you to prove yourself first. If you don’t like it by all means push back but your rationale isn’t right

OP - your bitterness is showing
Cut your losses and move on. Interviewing is a gamble on both sides - it’s impossible to assess a person based purely on a resume, hence why we conduct interviews. We bring in the wrong ppl all the time bc guess what, ppl lie on resumes. Sometimes they are more qualified, sometimes less, and sometimes we just don’t like them. Move on a go find a job that’s a better fit.
I accepted a senior associate role with another firm already. I am really surprised that people don’t see this as dishonest behavior as I do.
I'm not sure having a higher bar for SA than the firm that gave you an SA offer is unethical.
OP, there’s nothing unethical here. It’s not a bait and switch. They are rejecting you for the position you applied for. That happens a thousand times a day. Then they are being nice and saying “but there is this other position we think would be a good fit if you’re interested”. If you’re not interested just say no thank you. I don’t see what harm this is causing you vs just being rejected. It’s strictly better for you.

If you have other options you should use that as leverage for a higher offer. It’s a negotiation but you need to sell yourself and show your value
If you feel you’re worth more, move on from the offer, keep prepping for interviews and don’t take anything less. If a company did this to me, with no feedback, I’d never feel right about that company even if I took it. Do yourself a favor and politely decline.
DM, if you need a resume review or referral.
This is excellent advice! Thank you KPMG 1!

But doesn’t big 4/professional services always try to push you down a level??
Is this a thing? I didn’t know this.
It sounds like OP applied for a Senior position and should have been told their direction of how they see the OP would be better fit in the jr role since it’s a top 8 company and either offered to continue interviewing or thank him for his time and decline there.
It seems like the lack of transparency is what made him think he was interviewing for a Senior position (which he was).
Transparency is the issue here. Unpopular vote, I agree with OP.
If offering jr outcomes are possible it should be noted up front. Based on evaluating our prospects if we feel someone has potential we may offer a lower role with opportunity to reevaluate once hired.
Everyone wants OP to sympathize with a system flaw instead of empathizing with the human.
Instead of assuming OP who has Sr experience is arrogant, feel from his perspective. 2 days of work is >$500-2000+ and the PTO is meaningful, on top of it whatever they had to do to catch up at work etc.
Make your hiring process transparent, don’t bring someone in without being clear about what they are being interviewed for.
