similar boat here, went from $110 base (130tc) base in kushy industry role, joined accenture last year for $140 base (165tc), will resign next week and back to industry for $190 base (270tc) - consulting isn’t for everyone,

That’s hell of a comp... congrats. I’d take that any given day. Which company?

It’s an acquired taste. You survive or you don’t. Keep you head high, a thick skin, build your network, get a mentor and enjoy the work. It is a huge mental and physical adjustment. I made a similar switch to consulting after being in industry for 8+ years and since have been in consulting for 14+ years now. No regrets. Yes sacrificed personal life a lot but now I know how to work and do t let these things get to me mostly. That said, also know it’s not rosy all the time even after these many years. I do have my ups and downs. But I am hoping to build my retirement nest and looking forward to it.

12 to 16 hours a day is a lot. Part of it is the more you work, the more efficient you will get. I’d also be careful about how much workload you are taking on. Talk to your manager and let them know you are at your limits and need a break.

“A salary increase of 60%”...there you have it

Make the jump back to industry and you’ll get an even bigger raise. Go to a tech company. Consulting firms aren’t worth the hours and toxicity. You will burn out.

You will get better at managing hours and client. You should also ask yourself how much of a pay cut your willing to take to go back to what you had. Now that you are used to 60% more my guess is not much.

Go to federal. 40 hour weeks.

I sometimes listen to Ben Shapiro, I am a libertarian myself. While he clearly has a point of view that he transparently shares I feel he does a good job in explaining the thoughts of the other side and gives actual quotes and live clips to back up his position. on his show, he told his viewers to tune into pod save america, the liberal version of his show. I've listened to it multiple times now, and it just seems to be people venting their own opinions with certainly not as much substance
