I just accepted an IR associate role with a PE firm that is an amazing opportunity. More than doubles my pay (210 TC) and still doesn’t feel real. I’m usually a very confident person but I was somewhat pessimistic in the process because I didn’t expect to get the role or that I’d see that income at 24. I went from nervous that I wouldn’t get it to nervous I won’t do well. Not sure what’s happening but can I get any tips or best practice rec’s from PE IR folks? I want to hit the ground running.

I had talent specialist who works with a company find me on LinkedIn saying my profile looked like a good fit for an open role. Wouldn’t they have a number of applicants for this? It is a larger company say 1000 people. The conversation with her went really well and I’ve met with the hiring manager and one other person yesterday waiting to hear. But my question is, why would they need to reach out to people who haven’t applied for the role?

Does becoming partner at a firm increase your attractiveness to other potential employers? I’ve been at my firm for 8/9 years and I am looking to jump ship ASAP due to what people are telling me is an underpaid salary. But the managing partner says if I stick it out another 6 months and hit big hours all of those months, he’ll “submit me for partner.” I don’t intend to stick around here long term, it would just be for the title. He would not tell me how much more I’d make as a partner.
