Haha my therapist told me that I have this about D! 🤣
I think you made the wrong call, you won’t get $20k extra from D for at least 3 years

Let's check simple math 20k > 3k.
D culture is fucked now.
How is the new firm culture?
Can you explain your thought process?

$20k is a good hike. In today’s market, expecting significant hikes may not be the best strategy. This also depends on what level you currently are at.....
Yea that’s gonna be a no from me dog

Take it for what it is but you are likely more loyal to your firm than it is to you - did you try to ask your current firm to at least match?!?
At this point, if the other offer is gone you need to forget about it. Don’t think “what if” and just move on with your decision to stay or find a better offer that will make you actually jump.

Actually the reason I provided is “visa related” so I can still act and try to get the offer. Should I really really leave D?
OP- I spent 5 great years asking myself this. My answer is: you will know what it is time to leave. If leadership likes you and you are happy, stay.
Not to be mean but you’re dumb. Not sure what makes you believe so much in the firm that you think you can easily achieve that salary hike soon and be happy at the firm.
I understand where you’re coming from and I definitely did come off as lacking empathy. However, when I re-read the post it gave me a feeling that this either wasn’t a legitimate concern or the OP was half-joking towards the end. Loyalty to a firm or company is good IF both sides reap benefits and there’s equal respect and performance acknowledgment. I don’t see that here.
Regardless, everyone has an opinion and OP was seeking that.

Is this real tea because you can drop me the posting I will gladly take the 20k even if I have no clue what the job would consist of
You did not.

How big is the opportunity? And is your skill unique enough to switch in the future?
If I was earning 100k and was offered a 20k hike I’d go. The higher the base the less attractive the 20k
