I just desperately don’t want to feel alone. I feel like I’m surrounded by people (work, gym, mall) but no one knows that I’m here and just want to be acknowledged and listened to.

I hear you. Feeling like you’re invisible.
I divorced my husband because I couldn’t live that way anymore. A good therapist can be very helpful. Good ones truly care. They will actively listen and ask questions to help them better understand you, validate you, and work with you to discover the “why” behind your feelings. So many people these days are in their own head, and have zero concern for anyone other than themselves.

Other options may be a women’s/men’s group through church or park district. Please also consider NAMI. 800-950-6264. You can call or text. They also have great support groups.

The most important thing is for you to find a place where you feel connected and/or be around people who feel the same way as you. Just knowing and hearing that you’re not alone in how you feel will make a world of difference. Sending love and support your way ♥️

Therapy works great if you find a good therapist you fit with. Would also however suggest possibly time off work to do an outpatient treatment program (helped work on mental health but also validated a lot of what I felt and made me feel more heard to be around and talking with people who are also having issues).

You’re not alone. I recommend Two Chair therapy. I started working with my therapist before he joined this clinic, and I was saved by the therapy. I was going through immense stress (loved one dying, seriously mentally ill family members, legal dilemma).
Even without those circumstances, I had always been deeply affected by my childhood trauma.
That therapist really helped me step out of my head, so I could finally start noticing the good things in my life. Gradually, I became open & stable enough to make new friends.
Take small steps, but if you feel you can’t do it, definitely find a therapist that you click with.
I tried 3 therapist until I met this therapist.

It’s been mentioned already regarding therapy which I highly recommend if possible.

However, I wanted to challenge you with trying something out the next time you go out that’s free and simple. I recommend going someplace lighthearted like a cafe shop where lots of people walk by.
Take your favorite things, like your favorite sweater, shoes that make you feel cool, your lucky backpack etc whatever brings you comfort. And when you sit down to people watch, I want you to explore that energy of the people around you and connect with your environment.

This can be something like, watching a couple pass by and seeing their smiles and feeling that positive energy. Or seeing a family playing tag with their kids and their laughter just sounds so uplifting.

It’s a good reminder that we are all connected, living the human experience. You are here, you are important and you are seen.

Going out into nature will also help you feel connected. You might even meet some new friends 😊.

Was recently prescribed olazapine (Zyprexa) for my anxiety and depression. It's an antipsychotic and I'm really not comfortable taking it. The psychiatrist only met with me for like 30 minutes and isn't really willing to prescribe something else (e.g. SSRI) cause he thinks this is the best one for me. I'm not really sure what to do and it's just giving me more anxiety 🤦🏾‍♀️ I'd love to feel like myself again and would be open to Olanzapine if nothing else worked but I'm not comfortable starting off on such a heavy duty medication. Has anyone been in a similar situation or has advice on how to approach?

I’ve suffered from workaholism for a long time.
