Who’s working out Monday morning? 😤😤😤
NEED A PROPER SUGGESTION / GUIDANCE
I'm a fresher candidate, I'm currently working at Xoriant Solutions as a software engineer with 5LPA package. I got it through off campusing. I have got 2 more offers from college placement, first one is SENIOR ANALYST at Capgemini with 7.5LPA and second one is SOFTWARE DEVELOPER at Hitachi with 9 LPA.
Which company should i join as a fresher to have a proper growth or a good role in future ?
Any help regarding this would be highly appreciated.

I have a family to take care of. If 40+ hours results in more money/security than it’s an easy decision. I think a lot of the push for more WLB is from the younger folks who don’t have mouths to feed. I’ll work as much as it takes to line my pockets. The caveat is when working more doesn’t result in more financial recognition which does happen sometimes.
Understandable.

The higher you go up the harder it is to work only 40 hours.
Especially if you're trying to protect and keep the people reporting to you happy. Not everything can be delegated/split up/time line extended.
It's compounded by a shortage of staff across the board.
Isn’t 50-60 kind of just expected for any role where you get paid decently well?
I work in law. It makes over that and under 40.
Trying to find a way of saying you’re not going to get a leg up by being rude to people… without just saying it.
It’s all the PA folks. They enjoy being slaves to their bosses for nothing in return.
Waahhhh

I work in a client service industry.
We do what is needed, when needed.
I work 60-65 on average because it’s what it takes to get my work done and get paid. If I tried to limit my hours to 40 I would not have a job for very long. And I’m ok with it, it’s interesting work that I feel I’m good at, and very handsomely paid.
Coz these people were made to think that due to nature of business it’s a norm to work over hours which is a total BS in my view. Also ppl who think that in any high paying job you have to work over hours a) your job is not high paying relative to industry b) no you don’t need to work over 40 hours everywhere for a high paying job
Totally true, it's just brainwashing. They pay you 1.5 people's wages to make you do 3 peoples work and somehow many people think think the best deal they can get
Expectation is 35 hours a week. Some weeks are 15 hours some weeks are 50. Some weeks are 10 office hours and 10 golf course/event hours
This sounds so much better than public accounting. I go to the golf course then have to work nights and weekends to catch up.
42-43 hours just because of guidlines otherwise never going over 40 hours as it's not worth my personal time ever.

There are very few jobs that pay well and require 40 hours or less of work per week.
Not true
Yikes all the 40+ hour folks talking about it's expected. Most weeks I work 30 hours with naps or goofing off. Only during crunch I work longer. 120k salary.
Then again, I spend roughly 20 hours a week doing career dev and improving.
The more I work the more I get paid. Pretty straightforward. All the autonomy of my own office hours and flexibility to work insane weeks (as needed/arise) or just take a week off. Or go up to lake Tahoe and work a little bit in the morning but then walk away and vacation the remainder.
Fair - but not the case for everyone. Lots of folks don’t get paid for overtime, that’s where I begin to understand less!
Im happy to work for 70+ hrs if it means a phat >100% bonus. As a 23YO you cant fault it. Do it for a few years and set myself up for life.
Hours are dependent on your job, industry, rank, compensation, plus so many more things. My opinion is that if you’re working less than 40 hours per week, you’re probably shafting a colleague having them pick up additional work for you, or you’re just being lazy and not performing your best work.
Also not trying to say 70+ hrs is by any means healthy, because its not. But i would say 40-50 hours is what i would expect from most effective employees
I work over 40 if I need to get a project pushed out or if it is something that is needed for a short period of time. If it starts to become a long term situation, I look at restructuring my department if that is what is needed.
If I expect to move up, then I need to be available. Client services means you need to be there to service... Despite the unreasonable...
I'm trying to set better boundaries about that, myself. I was working 50-60 hours a week, but my boss hired an assistant for me who is supposed to make that unnecessary. I'm going back to college starting tomorrow so that's going to take up a lot of the time I was spending overworking!

My SO has been trying to get me to work closer to 40 hours instead of the 50ish I was working before because when I move in with him I will be capped by state law at 40.
Some people has to work over 40 hours per week so some people don’t have to. So when you see a police officer, paramedic, nurses, and or armed forces personnel (and many others), convey your gratitude.
Some of us are either too junior in our specialised field to go elsewhere with a much better option. For some time anyway. My first job out of college was supposedly 9-5, but it never really was once everything was underway.
