I just finished my first year in the Lev Fin group at middle-tier bank. Really enjoy the work and team, am happy with comp and the progression I’ve heard about for comp down the line, and have a good work/life balance (most weekends are mine). Despite all of this, I continue to have a feeling in the back of my head that I need to leave for PE so not sure what to do. Anyone else experience this?

It’s hard to leave a good situation for an uncertain one. What I would tell you is that you need to think about where you want to be in 5 years - most PE funds will kick you to b school because that is how you advance. Banking has great risk-adjusted financial comp for minimal amounts of real “thinking”. If you want more of an intellectual / uncertain challenge with massive upside potential LT, go to the buyside. Otherwise nothing wrong with being happy on sell side if you think you’d want to be an MD some day

Not an investment banker, but i can relate to that feeling

Don’t follow the herd, run your own race. If you actually want to be in PE - do it, but doing so only because others view it as “the move” won’t make you happy. Plenty of folks have had successful, rewarding careers on the sell-side. I’m on the buy side now, the grass isn’t always greener - same issues just different people causing them

Hi Has anyone made the switch from a bank to BIG 4. I currently work in Market risk and have few offers from Consulting firms.

Hi Folks,

I've got a job offer from a small IT company. But before releasing the offer letter, they want me to accept a terms and conditions form which has this 10th point as shown in picture. It states failing to join them will result in paying 2 months of salary that's around 130000 rs.

Is it for real? If I get a better offer somewhere else ane don't join them, will I really have to pay this to them? Please help friends. What should I do?

I recently joined HCL from Dell as Associate consultant E3.1 for AI/ML ROLE. I have total of 8.5 years of experience. I accepted offer for 36 lakhs.
I see there are people with roles such as Consultant and Sr.Consultant with the same experience as mine.
I regret now that I haven't asked for Consultant role.
What is the salary that HCL will offer to Consultant and Sr.Consultant roles?

Ugh, I am four business days past my loop interview and tomorrow is five, which is their maximum number of days they said they would take to make a decision. I’m trying to be optimistic, like, if they unanimously didn’t want me they probably would have told me sooner. But who knows?! The waiting is the worst part, knowing if the time investment into interview prep was actually worth it.
