It’s hard to leave a good situation for an uncertain one. What I would tell you is that you need to think about where you want to be in 5 years - most PE funds will kick you to b school because that is how you advance. Banking has great risk-adjusted financial comp for minimal amounts of real “thinking”. If you want more of an intellectual / uncertain challenge with massive upside potential LT, go to the buyside. Otherwise nothing wrong with being happy on sell side if you think you’d want to be an MD some day

Don’t follow the herd, run your own race. If you actually want to be in PE - do it, but doing so only because others view it as “the move” won’t make you happy. Plenty of folks have had successful, rewarding careers on the sell-side. I’m on the buy side now, the grass isn’t always greener - same issues just different people causing them
