Congratulations! Mom of twins here. Plan for a shorter than normal pregnancy (I dropped at 36 weeks - full term for twins). Plan for yourself to be out of commission for some of your pregnancy near the end. For me that was bedrest (no getting up except to eat/pee) after around 20 weeks or so. More appointments as well. Of course, that might not be you - my kid's teacher went to 40 weeks and was teaching right up till the end!! Hire help. Let me say that again - hire help!!! Its hard when they are born till about 3 months or so - then is a blast.

+1 to help. My twins were async in their biorhythms for a while and we had to keep them in separate rooms until the one that mixed up day and night was retrained. I wouldn’t survive that 3 months without a nanny and cleaning lady.

Congratulations!!! 🎊🎈🎉

I did a ton of research when I found out I was expecting twins at 10 weeks and one book mentioned gaining 20 lbs by 20 weeks pregnant because low birthweight for twins is such a problem. I did that and had twin boys at 35+ weeks that weighed almost 6 lbs each. No NICU and came home from the hospital with me 4 days after birth. I didn’t have any issues during my pregnancy other than severe water weight gain in my lower half - my legs were huge which made it hard to walk at the end but I managed. My last day of work was May 3rd and I gave birth on May 4th. There are a ton of horror stories out there about complications with twin pregnancies but plenty of women have perfectly normal twin pregnancies it just isn’t publicized. So do research but stay away from personal stories because many of them are negative and will make you worry more. Congratulations 🎉

Mama of twins. Let the Daddy do as much as possible!! It might not be like you would do it but it is done. We got up together for every feeding. We would watch movies while we fed the kids. One of my parents would stay with us to help out. I could not breastfeed so others helped me. My husband would make formula in bulk and we would just heat it up. It was definitely a team approach for everything we did.

I’m pregnant with twins now, too! I’m currently reading this book. I’m over halfway, and my gosh, you really have to be prepared to slow down. This is much more challenging than a singleton pregnancy. Do what you can now so you have less pressure to get things ready later on. 🙂 I have to sit/lie down more often now because I’m so uncomfortable.

Congratulations! I’m not a mom of twins, but I am a twin and I have 2 singletons. I really liked the Secrets of the Baby Whisperer by Tracy Hogg. I’m sure there are a ton of good books out there, but you’ll be the expert on your babies pretty quickly. Twins can be tiring, but if I believe my parents a lot of fun too.

Congratulations!!! 🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉. So happy for you! HIRE HELP - anything you can offload to others for the first 6 months, do so. Lawn care, grocery shopping, cleaning the house, etc. You will need sleep and this will be a hard adjustment at first. Too much work and not enough sleep is a sure fire recipe for arguments with your husband. 😂. Babies don’t sleep reliably for the first 3-6 months, and having two will be challenging at times! It’s a physically demanding job to be a mom to two infants. Also, start looking for “mom friends” who are mothers of twins. Your hospital may have a support group for new moms or moms of multiples, if so I’d recommend joining! Moms with kids roughly your kids’ ages will be a lifeline and full of advice and commiseration! (Where would we be without our girlfriends?!) So happy for you, friend!! My “baby” is a college girl now. It goes by fast!

Also, the book “Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child” was a great help.

Look for a twin moms group near you! I have two friends who had twins, and they said this was extremely helpful to have a community around them.

Congrats!!! How far along are you?

8 weeks. I am anxious to find out what type of twins ... :).

Congratulations!!! Set clear boundaries. People will want to visit, you don't have to let them. I also recommend the book "expecting better".

If you recently gave birth, what gift would u want? I don't want to send anything for the baby as I'm assuming the child probably has everything it needs. I was thinking a case of wine as i feel if i had a baby i would eventually want to have a drink very soon but any ideas would help. Thanks so much!!

Kudos to the OP who shared her life story (about being pregnant and deciding to keep the baby despite the initial backlash from the father) and continuing to update us. Initially I didn’t get the dilemma, now I do. It makes me feel I’m a part of your life in some small way. Maybe it’s sad, but I really needed that during these difficult times. The support in this group is phenomenal.
