Congratulations! Every pregnancy is different, so it’s impossible to know in advance. 20-24 weeks is typically considered a sweet spot. I have two children and hate being pregnant and I would have been fine for trial, but then again I love trials! I would assume you will be fine and go with the flow unless and until you’re not. Good luck!

I billed my highest month ever during my second trimester and had a 5 day arbitration. It's really the best time for something like this.

Thanks for sharing. This makes me feel a lot better! I was mostly worried about the long hours but it seems like the timing is just right!

At that time, trial should be fine. I wouldn’t do trial after 7 months (one time my second chair leaned over to me during voir dire and said her water broke).

Oh my gosh!! Fortunately I won’t be 7 months during the trial

It wasn’t a trial, but I spent a week out of state for work working similar hours at that point in my pregnancy and was fine. Doctor just told me to be extra careful to stay fed and hydrated, and to get up and walk around at least once an hour during the flights involved.

Congratulations!! I had trials up to my due date for kid 1 and kid 2. When your baby arrives is not something you can control. What I did to make everyone more comfortable (me, client, other attys in my firm) was to prepare a trial notebook with detailed plan - order of witnesses, witness questions fully written out so another atty could literally just read them if necessary - OCD type trial prep. Lots of handy snacks and water always with you. After that it is out of your hands and you just focus on the excitement of your new family member!

Thanks for your response and great suggestions. I feel a lot better that so many others have also had trials during their pregnancies.

You’re welcome

I have vague recollections of hearing that our practice group leader at my old firm was in trial basically up to the day she went in labor. Might be an urban legend though.

Congratulations! Between 20-26/28 weeks is usually said to be (and in my case) the more tolerable period in pregnancy. Barring the occasional tiredness, because you ARE growing life, you should be fine.

On the subject of being well fed, anyone have good suggestions? I feel constantly hungry and am so tired of eating my foods— I’m not even in the mood of eating, but if I don’t I feel sick!

Mhm soft pretzel sounds good
