I remember hearing years ago that a good rule of thumb for salary for associates in Big Law was "1/3 of yearly billables"
Does that apply to small law as well?
If so, does that include benefits.
Coming up on the one year mark at my firm and I want to get a sense of what is reasonable.

Weighing offers from IQVIA (Consultant, strategy/life science) and Oliver Wyman (Experienced Consultant). IQVIA base and total comp are slightly better. Thoughts on each company, work/life, career growth, ect. Which offer would you accept? Also, I am a consultant for a healthcare network now, not a physician.
I have 7.9 years of experience in the Retirement/401K process. I'm looking for the same position. Any referrals/Suggestions would really be appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Anyone work at Neustar? If so, do you like it?
Any advice for an experienced HR professional with SHRM-SCP? I was downsized from my last job as a VP of Admin wanted to go with Coordinator/Assistant structure. Been in HR for nearly 20 years with mostly generalist experience. Managed a function and/or people for most of that time. Senior level in my experience, but definitely not executive level. (Limited budgeting and PM experience.) Having a horrible time finding a new role! Getting a lot of interviews but no offers and getting discouraged.
Any insight on Verizon Media’s internal creative department?
For context: I’m in advertising (creative - art director)
we're living through an intergenerational transfer of wealth via public markets, during which retail and derivatives trading are both becoming more dominant in the public equity markets.
there is record unemployment. I'm not convinced the high gini index matters (income inequality), but when it does matter, it won't matter how much public equity you own.
I think with the banks plus 3 branches of governments in alignment post trump, we don't have to worry about a '20 or '07/8 style dip.
I am not efficient working from home. I worry that I have not adjusted to working from home yet and that in the future I will be penalised for it. How can I convince my company that I want to work from the office all the time?
Since I started teaching writing, I started looking for a way students can write on their phone. I found that Microsoft Word Online, and Google Forms work best. They write on their phone. I get it digitally. No papers.
Anyone know of any tools that can scrub user comments from a paid Facebook ad (via preview link or other) into an Excel or csv? Please and thank you!

Crisis in faith: doing gov't consulting because I have no interest in spending the same or more hours helping a company improve its bottom line. I also have no interest in being paid less to be a fed for 10 years.
Seeing the lack of movement on student loan forgiveness & the sheer $$$ commercial apparently makes, idk if it's a smart move to stay mission driven or just bail for the highest dollar. Anyone else dealt with this?
DAE feel like work is just slow? Is it because of the pandemic? It's August and so far I've only worked on three campaigns this year.
Can someone please explain what “normal scrutiny” is in con law? I didn’t go to a T14, so we didn’t cover it in con law class.

So I've been with my significant other who I love to the moon for the last 5 years & we're getting married in August. We've both always been on the same page about wanting kids one day but now, I've found myself wanting kids less and less. Anyone else been in this place? How did you approach it with your SO?
My friend comes over with his daughter (6) who frequently runs and does cartwheels in my home. I told my friend I don’t like it and his response was that’s she’s bored and I need to be more patient with kids. Since when did asking parents to have their kids respect your space a problem?
When do you have conversation about not wanting kids in the future when start dating someone new? Late twenties F dating late twenties M, not exclusive yet. I think I am afraid to bring it up to learn that they want kids in the future and I will have to end it after that. I don’t want to date just to date and waste my time. I know I need to do it but damn! I mentioned it in a passing but did not have a concentrated conversation about it. How are you all deal with this?
Omg I did not know there is this bowl! I am kinda giving up on dating because I barely meet anyone who wants childfree 😞
So my jackass ex didn’t really want any kids. Excuses: Not a great childhood, postgrad intl student loans, my cancer diagnosis, career focus, no close family. I made the adjustments to accept the unexpected and now am SUPER happy things turned out the way it did. He’s now engaged to a single mom despite being adamant against children. I’ve heard this happen ALOT…anyone else?!?
At a work dinner party, someone I barely know just all the sudden started with questions like ‘you never wanted children?’ And ‘would you consider adopting?’ What happen to small talk regarding weather and fun weekend plans?
Do you feel like nowadays more men than women want kids? Considering they suffer less negative effects physically, socially, and career-wise.
And yet, people are still having babies 😭🤦🏻♀️ we're all doomed https://www.vice.com/en/article/7k87gy/alaska-canceled-snow-crab-season-for-the-first-time-ever-because-all-the-crabs-are-gone
Did people not know this before they had kids???
Did you get a pet (or pets) because you wanted to replace the idea of having children? Or are pets just as stressful?
I've noticed that the people I know who really want kids even though they are single/don't have a SO all came from broken families (divorced parents or dad left). Have any of you noticed the same trend?
Cue friends with kids leaving me on read at 3pm on a Friday. Message with you next week, I guess. Really starting to see that I just need to move on from these friendships.
This isn't about being childfree this time but is a bowl that I think is least likely to have anyone who's involved lurking. Looking for perspective.
I'm in healthcare, agency side. I have a couple of product names I've never had to say out loud until a recent client meeting. I practiced pronunciation before the meeting because it's different than how I hear it in my head. Continued in comments:
Hi fellow CF friends! I emailed FB and they said the link to join this bowl should be working now. I would like to test it out but the link always worked for me so I won’t notice a difference. If someone is willing to help me do so, please let me know! Would love to continue to grow this bowl ☺️
I would like to opt out of *both* babies on flights and stupid goodie bags
Really cool project here documenting women who chose to be child free https://wearechildfree.com
Last night when my wife got home from work, I reminded her to say hello to the dog and she said “I’m so glad we don’t have kids” haha
So not having kids and focusing on career, personal growth and enjoying life but I just started to think who will I leave all my money/assets to when I die?! Anyone thought about this? 👀
New to Fishbowl?

It's not new, and it's $250k for singles vs $500k for married - the idea is to account for 2 people vs 1 person. This is not the only part of the tax code that treats single people very differently, and it's been like this for decades.
It’s one property. What if it was a plural marriage do they get an extra 200k … it’s a law that’s completely not acceptable.. it’s punishing singles … it really is. Are people even discussing this?
Wtf is a “plural marriage” you cannot be legally married to more than one person at a time in the US.
