I just got a class set of Kindles. Let me know the best ways to integrate them into a middle school pre-Algebra and Algebra classroom! (Desmos is becoming mandatory)

My kids use prodigy and LOVE it. It’s a great way to get all students 1-12 grade hooked on math. They also have an app for tablets and I think for kindles as well.

Ah I wish we had that in my district! Curious how you're going to use Kindles in an Algebra class though. Have you ever heard of the book Joy of X?

So my ISD split me between a HS and a MS that recently reopened. I'm the only MS band director. The MS decided, without consulting me, to use the band hall as a classroom and after school enrichment "daycare". AKA added desks and tables. How do I approach this? I feel it is not OK in the slightest. I feel the band hall should reflect the goals, discipline, and culture of the program. Not as an empty classroom.

Anyone use edgenuity? I'm starting Monday with students, never been trained, no guidance. Don't know how to set expectations if I don't know. ice breaker ideas? I'm not in my classroom.. media center.

So I have a problem.

I'm OBSESSED with the game GeoGuessr. OBSESSED.

Is anyone using this in their classrooms to teach geography?? I'm not even a geography teacher - I teach art - but I'm dying to know how I can use it in some way and feed my addiction!

Does anyone pay to use the premium version of Peardeck? Is it a good resource to supplement classroom instruction or not worth it? Thanks for any info you can provide!

Any of you working moms involved in PTA/PTO? How does your PTA ensure they’re reaching out to all parents, not only SAHMs? What parent volunteer activities can I present to the board that do not always require being in the classroom during the day to volunteer? Other issue is the meeting time: Monday 9am, not ideal for most working parents. (Their reasoning was they tried that once and no one really showed up) Do you do Zoom or hold an in person PTA meeting?

What are some of the best practices I can incorporate within my classroom to promote social justice? I feel like a lot of my students don't really grasp this issue.

I don’t understand dismissal anymore. When I was in K-12 as a student, everyone was dismissed at the same time. Now we have to dismiss the students in “waves.” Having students hanging around a classroom waiting for a bus to be called is just asking for more opportunities for bad behavior. Why does it have to be this way?

Does anyone use Google Classroom for ECSE ? I was supposed to have it up and running by Thursday. Luckily, all of my kiddos came. I didn’t take the workshop this summer and the person that gave a brief overview last week talked so fast that I couldn’t understand what was being said.

(Based on real life) You walk into your building. The network is completely down. How long could you continue to effectively teach (hours, days) without your classroom internet network? Second scenario is the same but without power (assumes building is habitable)?
