I honestly feel bad for the company you just started with. Comparison is the thief of joy, OP. Cheers 🍻

When I was a wet behind the ears analyst making $35k, I knew there were jobs out there that paid more. When I was a SC making $95k, I knew there were SC level jobs out there that paid more, but also ones that paid less. Same when I was a M making $150k, a SM making $190k, and a new MD making ~$300k.
That still applies as a tenured MD making ~$500k.
There will always be someone at your level who is paid more and almost certainly someone who's paid less at your level. If your current job checks your boxes and pays well enough, you'll be fine.
Comparison is the thief of joy!

Am M making $150K. May I be your Padwan?

Your fixation on money is not going to bring happiness, let me tell you.
Signed, somebody who was formerly fixated on money.
SP1 knows what's up... I was another person endlessly fixated on money

You’ll never be happy with that mindset
As my dad will say In as Fatherly voice as possible “ U r an Idiot to let 15k ruin the joy of making 175”.
15k is not a meaningful difference at these levels, particularly if you’re talking about tc which presumably includes variable comp. what really matters is your longer term career trajectory. Focus on what will drive that
BCG1 is correct. Jumping for $15k doesn’t make any sense to me.

You make $175k a year. Stop complaining.
$175k is a lot of money. Give yourself a break and enjoy. Interviewing is stressful and $15k wouldn’t have made your life that much different right now. Keep your eye out and interview for jobs you want and be picky as you have a good one right now.
The new job is kinda good and I got a project where people seem to be amazing. But I always think I am under paid.
@D1 what group ? My team 175k is M2-M3...never making more than 110k as a SC
The curse of the romantic is a greed for dreams, an intensity of expectation that, in the end, diminishes the reality.
^😂
You should use some of that money for therapy. A lot of times people are motivated by money due to fear of not having enough or low self worth, etc
Get to the root of your issues so you can enjoy your money

At greater than $70k the incremental happiness has diminishing returns.
I’m at 170 and honestly it will take almost 50% for me to move to another consulting firm.
I on the flip side I’d easily take a pay cut for an industry role with expanded responsibilities, better WLB, etc.
We all need to step back occasionally and evaluate why we’re chasing after this 💰 💼

Hmm this is actually really sad. The difference between 175 and 190 is so minuscule. Hope your can find satisfaction in other places
What if you get a job that pays 190k but find out that there's someone who makes 205k?
What firm did you switch to?

Yes.
Underpaid at 175? Is this a joke
