I’d keep the salary and ask for equity.
You need skin in the game if you’re going to run an agency.
5% of all the teams' combined salaries? Seems reasonable... But most likely this this an ask of a favor of you to do this so you can build up your experience, skills, and resume...if they didnt mention an actual promotion then expect to have a maybe 10% bump in your current salary.
That's not how this works... if they were at that level...wouldn't be on here asking about salary figures. Correct me if I'm wrong...are you at least EVP level?

When you were asked did your CEO ask you to come back to them with a compensation number? Their head might not be in that place. Especially if this a temporary ask. That said, it never hurts to ask. If this is a long term spot then I would ask for equity points on revenue and wins, a little extra in salary plus recognition of the role. Just a warning, having equity, without ownership is an unusual position. You have more authority and responsibility, but you are still an employee. If you trust who you are working for it can be a great learning experience and advance your career
