I just got promoted to senior; however I've been thinking of leaving for some time now. I want to leave by the end of next month. I had a call with a partner a couple of days ago who said they don't want to see me leave the firm. I'm a natural people pleaser and do a good job at work but I want to leave to better my mental health and having more work life balance to work at being the best version of myself. I have never felt so conflicted. Any advice would help.

Do you think your mental health is suffering because of covid/busy season? If this is temporary and situational, I would say take the time to talk to family and friends or a therapist and make sure you know what you want first before you quit? As someone who recently switched jobs, I’m definitely happier at my new job but I also think the last one wasn’t as bad now that I left.

I would be honest that you are struggling with work life balance and ask the partner about advice to manage.

Try asking for a fwa. Most firms should have them and it's a good way to have boundaries. However, if you can't put your foot down you will end up working more than you agree to under your fwa; so I would practice saying no and setting boundaries now where you can

Curious to know, have you dated or currently with someone with mental health issues? My SO suffers from it and I don’t know how to help him. He takes different medications for it which causes his mood to vary from day to day. The medications combined with his drinking and getting high, I worry about his overall health. Sometimes he just makes me feel like shitty person. I’m not trying to be selfish, but it does affect me. How do I handle this? Sometimes I wonder if it’s worth it all.

Can somebody please explain to me why MBB and other top consulting firms are so adamant that you have an MBA? I majored in accounting, finance, and operations management at a top 10 undergrad business school and then got my masters in information systems from the grad school program. I took multiple MBA courses as electives when getting my masters and it seemed like those classes were very basic and easy. Idk if I would learn anything in an MBA program that I hadn’t already learned in undergrad

Currently interviewing for a designer role at Tesla - wanted some advice. The hiring manager has seemed uninterested and always dropped off interviews early and without answering any of my questions. He also mentioned that he's lost 4 designers from the team recently (red flag!). I think it'd be a cool role, but it sounds like I'd be the only designer and there's not a ton of support, BUT if I do well - lots of room for growth and promotion.
