Could be true, not uncommon
This happened to me twice already in the last 2 months, however, one of the positions I see being posted again two weeks after! So is it really a budget reason ?! 😢🤨
Tier 2 firm!
I think this is pretty normal - my parents have this happen all the time when they are trying to fill roles on their teams (both are in industry)
It's probably true. Recruiters don't have much reason to make up semi elaborate lies when they can just give the canned response of were not moving forward with your application or whatever.
I'd recommend keeping in touch with the recruiter. Letting them know you were grateful for the opportunity and would appreciate being considered for other similar roles in the future.
Interesting, so why would people fill it but within two weeks would decide they don’t have the budget? Shouldn’t the firm know whether or not they can fill a role before they post it?
This happened to me with an industry gig, but they actually downgraded the role. I had suspicions at the time but given some back channel network research on the guy I would've been working for I feel he deemed me a threat. They decided to change the position to a lower level with a far lower salary.
You would never know. Just move on and sorry to hear... never meant to be and smth better is awaiting ahead! Good luck!
This happened to me with Deloitte.
Happened to me with a FAANG ended up getting a different job their instead. Sometimes priorities and plans change quickly
All part of annual planning which is finalizing right now probably had to move capacity all normal.
