I just had my first review and I'm extremely underwhelmed by the salary and bonus (I had a decent rating/review). What do most Consultants receive percentage wise for annual salary and bonus?

In your case, I think its a function of the type of consulting you do. Federal consulting is notoriously low comp from what i hear. Strategy consulting can be the other end of the spectrum. My base increases 10%+ every year and I usually get 25-30% bonus, though max is around 50%

G1 I am talking GH and Pwc year’s. You’re right won’t have a good baseline until just GH and no crazy activity but I think that’s hard to expect... there is always some disruption. Pwc split, gvt shutdown, purchase of navigant, shorter performance year, and if corona gets worse and make people stay home then revenue will be hit again. So tough to ask people to be ok w low number until it “normalizes” when there is always something. Change fatigue is real esp when it’s accompanied by cómp uncertainty Also bonus pool was low in my sector in summer - they said it was gvt shutdown and one time thing and next year would be better

Most consulting firms pay a decent sized base and then bonuses vary but are usually nothing incredible. Maybe at best it could be 20-25% but over average don’t expect more than 15%. Ofc all of this depends on YoE and education level for base pay. If you want a benchmark though the average pay for a consultant fresh out of an MBA is about 160k base

3% for average performance, 10% for top performance and 20% for "I wish all my minions were like you"-performance (only granted to top 1% per level

Okay, I received a 3% salary increase and 3% bonus both prorated to 1.5% each for a 6 month review. Though I know its prorated, it still seems low across other firms. Thanks for sharing.

OP I worked at GH until recently. Although the 3% salary increase seems normal, the bonus is low compared to prior years (depending on the practice area).

3% salary bump and bonus is what I get every non-promotion year and I’ve always gotten high performance reviews 🤷‍♂️

I have low travel, great wlb and have been receiving promotions quickly, so there are some positive trade offs. I don’t intend on staying more than another year, though.

I was promoted this year. 18 percent raise. 6 percent bonus. Non promo year last year. 7 percent raise. 10 percent bonus.

Dang, this is good

In non-promo years across the industry, most are probably 0-15% and 0-30%, respectively.

like

Annual bonus target at 10-20% for non manager roles. High 20-30%

Hi fam, I need some advice. I have an offer to leave consulting to go to a “startup” I’m really excited about. That said, the comp is on the lower end of what I was hoping for (slightly lower than what I’m making now, including equity) and there’s a very good chance I’m getting promoted to manager next month at my current firm. No room to negotiate TC so that’s off the table. I’ve interviewed for a few FAANG roles (which didn’t work out for a mix of reasons) with TC much higher than...
