This is unanswerably broad. An indication of your industry and/or your role or practice area would help.

Unless you’re responsible for 10K filings, industry specific law will be more relevant. See if any law firms have blogs for your industry. Read those and sign up for their articles.

Hello UST folks,

Those who don't know we have got the access to "Udemy Business". Earlier it was not allowed, now we can use the Udemy for all learning. I am happy and wanted to share with you all.

What third party applications are most of you guys using for internal audit management and sox testing? (I.e. workiva) and would you recommend it?

I have cleared technical interview at @EXL and have also given another round of interview with VP.

Q1. How long does the VP round feedback take normally?
Q2. What are the next rounds/discussion to expect if I clear this round?
Q3. What is the level and salary that I should expect for a BI developer role at 6 years experience?

Anything else that I should keep in mind during the interview process that helps me land better role/salary? TIA.

Just finished an initial phone screen with a recruiter at KPMG...my candidature was very well recd.. one hour later I got an email saying they will have to pass because they don’t do H1 transfers with less than 3.5 years on visa. Is this for real? On my second extension and having 3.5 years is highly improbable. I do have my current visa till sep 2020

How long did it take you to feel *useful* in your in-house role? I recently joined in-house legal at a large corporation after 3+ years in biglaw corporate and feel like I am a first year again and add little to no value (for now). I know in-house work moves at a different pace and I need to be patient with the transition (and myself) but just curious to hear others’ experiences.

I’ve always worked in saas and end of year is busy. As a Junior attorney, I loved it - I didn’t mind putting in the extra time and not being able to take time off around Xmas and NY. But now I’m older and I have kids and I want to take off more time to be with them and drink holiday cocktails in front of a fire. But I can’t because even though I have folks who report to me who do most of the work, I am still available for escalations (or to jump in if needed). Are other industries better?

Anyone willing to share insight on which companies have good WLB? I left biglaw for health reasons, took huge pay cut, and now in-house working same hours and hectic pace as biglaw (only counsel, other counsel left as soon as I started). Feel like I’ve royally screwed myself and want to leave but afraid the next company will be the same.

How much notice do you give when switching in house jobs? I'm close to getting an offer but no offer for a new gig yet. My current boss has said to reach out to him if I'm thinking of leaving bc we are a small team of 4-- so they can prepare a departure. At most I would be able to give 4 weeks notice.
