What is the best way to begin a transition from a help desk job to an actual career path in IT? I’m getting close to being at my current job for a year, however I have a lot of experience in the tech field, which is what landed me this job without any actual IT background. I definitely feel over qualified and under paid in the position I am in now, and looking for the next step towards an IT career. Any advice would not fall on deaf ears. TIA

Any advice on how many slides a ~15min tech interview presentation should be? I know there’s no perfect number but is like maybe 8-12 slides good enough? Context is this is for higher up like we’re talking Directors+ and they’re very smart in tech with phd’s.

I accepted an offer with a great company. I am happy with the position and there are good growth opportunities but I wasn't able to negotiate well and I accepted the offer as I was laid off and wanted to start a new role asap. I feel my salary is too low and with all the rising costs it will be hard to sustain. What should I do in this case and is there a way I can ask my company to increase my base salary.

I’m moved under a person who I would not get along with at all and have clashes with in the past. I’m considering resigning with no job prospects at the moment. I have a healthy savings and low cost if living. Should I resign and dedicate 100% to job search or do the minimum while searching for a job?

Trying to apply for another position at the same company but my boss told me explicitly that if they find out people on our team are looking for other jobs, they will stop giving that person raises, promotions, bonuses, & access to opportunities. I have spoken with the hiring manager for the new position and he just asked me if I have notified my current manager. Not sure how to navigate this tricky situation. Was hoping to interview before having to tell my manager that I am applying. Ideas?

Hi Everyone, I am trying to apply for a Technical Support role at Dropbox. I’m entering all the required fields but there seems to be an issue, when I hit submit after filling the form, it doesn’t submit and throws error ‘Looks like you left this blank! Please fill out this required field’ when all the fields are entered already (I have checked so many times, and filled the form from scratch several times too). I am not sure what to do. My company just had another round of massive layoffs. So far my job was spared. I do got a job offer from a different company but the salary is way lower than what I have now (20,000$ less). Should I choose for financially stability but with a lower salary, or take the risk, keep the higher salary, but have a high chance to loose it as the company isn’t doing great.
