Dreading work today. I’m feeling so anxious
There are several valid reasons to live on your own in a city even when living with your parents is a "viable" situation. If it's independence or needing space, that's a very solid reason. It goes directly to your well being and ability to relax and recharge. Same for cutting down commute time. More money cannot replace time and energy you have.
My husband and I lived in the basement of his parents' house for awhile to save money but we moved asap once we had the income again because we wanted the space again and we're much better off for it.
I'm not sure what your reasons are but just because one option is cheaper doesn't mean it's better on the whole.
I sometimes feel guilty about doing the same but my home situation was toxic. Even though I visit for weeks at a time sometimes, having the peace of mind that I can leave whenever I feel uncomfortable is priceless.
You might have saved more money but if you’re happier in the city then that is the move. Life is too short to sacrifice your happiness to save some money. I moved back a month ago after being with my parents and I feel like a completely different person. I’m so happy to have my own space again
