Hiii welcome to FL lol 😅 find a really good blow dry cream and hair oil - I love Bumble & Bumble’s, Ouai, It’s a 10, Oribe, etc.
I would also say blow dry your sweaty hair after workouts and try to go as long as you can between washes using oil on the ends so you can prolong it. You might just need a bit to get used to the different water but hydrating masks and styling creams are your friend it sounds like. Summer humidity is brutal so styling usually just means it lasts for 5 mins and only gets you extra heat damage
Haha Thank you ! Guess my skin & hair are not feeling so welcomed but i wouldn't complain about all the beautiful sunshine :) !
I have a wavy/curly texture and have stopped using heat styling in last year or so, but my crown area is especially feeling unmanageable without a bit of straightening here.
Any hydrating mask suggestions ? I've tried the BrioGeo- Don't despair mask - It does kind of help but i read shouldn't be used more than once a week.
I have very fine Caucasian hair that goes frizzy very easily. It is has a natural wave that I can enhance with a meticulous routine and leave it frizz free. For me personally, blow drying is the worst thing! My routine is shower shampoo + conditioner, then when I’m done showering I squeeze a little water out of my hair so it’s not dripping but still leaving a lot of water in my hair. That’s the critical step. The more wet my hair is before I start this routine the better my result. Next I use It’s a 10 leave in detangler, gentle and slowly use Wet Brush to comb through from ends to root. Next I put about a nickel size MoroccanOil hair oil in my palm and head turned over, rub between my palms and gentry scrunch in starting at ends and working up to shaft (I have mid back length hair so use way less for short hair). Then with hair still flipped over I use a “turbie” hair towel and wrap my hair up on top of my head. Apply all my skin and body care while my hair dries in the towel a little while. Take the towel out and use it to gently scrunch my hair a little more. Part my hair with a wide tooth comb and gentle remove any tangles then scrunch again with the turbie towel (it’s very soft almost like a micro fiber). Then I let my hair air dry. Also sleep on a silk pillow case with hair down to extend style and minimize frizz. That’s my healthy hair routine.
I only blow dry my hair if in a real rush and heat style for a date night or special occasion.
I kind of do pretty much the same but i do diffuse my hair at the end to get a bit more from my curls than air drying. Don't use the same products though so will check them out. Thank you !
This stuff has worked wonders for my hair:
OLAPLEX No.8 Bond Intense Moisture Mask https://www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=pimprod2029355
I tried this once last year for couple of weeks but I somehow ended up having bad hairfall not too sure why :| I agree it did make my hair smooth/shiny but I dint keep at it due to the hair fall.
Try getting a keratin smoothing treatment. Works so well for my frizzy hair!
Brazilian Blowout Ionic Bonding Spray 3.4 fl oz https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07KH7SLYN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TBTT8KA63Y3Y76GGF6NY
Thankyou, never used one of these before. Will definitely check it out
Kevin Murphy “Hydrate.Me” collection of shampoo conditioner and hair mask is great helps with the humidity and makes your hair soft and silky. The mask is especially good if you’ve colored your hair in the past and have brittle or dry ends. They sell mini sizes and samples in case you want to test the products before buying a full size. It’s a bit pricey but worth it.
Ahhh ! I have seen these bottles before haha.
Will definitely give it a try. Thank you
Living proof humidity shield
Check out their no frizz line…I also use the instant de-frizz (I think that’s the name)
Argon oil treatment. Wash your hair and let it dry before you put some in and it only takes a little bit just a few drops here and there on your hands and put it through your hair with your hands after it’s dry and you will be amazed I had really long hair for a long time. It worked wonders for me.
Interesting take ! Will try, thankyou !
Keratin treatments ftw
IGK Good Behavior keratin smoothing spray is the only thing I've found that works for me. Heat protection and keeps it smooth. But Elyse Myers just posted a review of Color WOW Dream Coat that looked pretty impressive.
Never tried this before, will check it out. Thanks !
You need keratine treatment. That’s the only way to survive. What part of Florida did you move to? I can give you some recommendations based on your location. Living proof has a spray that helps with humidity but that’s only a temporary fix. Get ready for the summer. It will be brutal.
Keratine treatment is on my mind too BUT i'm worried that'll be me giving up on my waves/curls which is the natural texture of my hair.
I'm in Tampa
I would suggest getting magic sleek or Japanese relaxing. These will give you permanently straight hair until it grows out and after your workout, you will be able to step out of the shower with soaking wet hair and it will try perfect and pin straight with no frizz!
Just saw your comment that you have curly hair maybe you can try getting a perm even though you already have curls or get magic sleek and simply curl your hair which time you want to wear it curly and if you don’t call it then it will just be straight
Hi- master stylist here 👋🏼 I specialize in curly hair and here’s what you need: don’t shampoo your hair, scrub it with conditioner & rinse. Comb your wet hair into place, part it where you want etc. find a curl cream that works for you- my personal favorite is through Prose.com - answer the questions and get a perfect formulation just for your hair type and where you’re living. DO NOT blow dry, let that gorgeous mane air dry and don’t touch it until it’s dry. Once it’s dry, flip your head upside down, scrunch your curls and do little circular motions at the root where you want volume. Curly hair by nature is dry, stripping it constantly with shampoo and adding heat to it will not be your friend. I wish you the best and for goodness sakes, I hope your stylist knows how to cut curly hair.
I use just a little more than a pea sized amount or argon oil and run it through my hair to take the frizz and it helps soooo much
