I just reached out to a recruiter about a job posting they had on LinkedIn. After doing so, I realized that the firm I currently work at is using the very same recruiter to hire more associates. Is my firm going to find out that I’m looking for other jobs? I could see them firing me on the spot for that!

That would be pretty low for the recruiter to tell your firm, and they would get a bad reputation pretty quickly if they did. Plus, they would have no incentive to anyway. I would not worry about it. What’s done is done, and it is extremely unlikely a problem will come from it.

The recruiter should never disclose with your current firm that you are working together. Everything should be kept confidential, so no need to worry about that. It would not be beneficial on either end to break confidentiality.

I’ve always gotten the advice that when you want to switch jobs you should take interviews from places you’re not actually interested in, so you can understand your value in the market and have better negotiating power.

I’m doing that rn - took a couple interviews to gauge my skills, my market value, and see what I need to work on for interviews that I actually care about.

However, I feel really guilty about wasting their time and going all the way knowing I’ll just say no at the end. Wwyd?

Guys,

I will not be joining
KPMG Global Services and the I have informed to the HR.

But today I’ve received a message that a box of chocolate is on the way from KGS and will be delivered tomorrow.
Should I keep it or deny since I won’t be joining?

PS: The order contains only chocolates but not the laptop and other joining kit. 😁

So I'm trying to handle this maturely even though I feel like yelling at someone - how do you handle saying "no" to someone asking your parents to marry you, even when you have made it clear to them that you're not interested a long time ago? I feel like this person is sneaking "behind my back" going straight to my parents - not how it works anymore..at least for me. Thoughts/advice?

Need advice! Context: Make 160k in LCOL area, 28M. Living at home with no rent and paid off car for last 3 years. Monthly expenses add up to 1500, invest/save about 8K a month. At a point where I’d like to move out, I’ve been living at home because it’s mutually beneficial to my elderly parents and me. We get along really well and I help them, they help me. My car with 180k miles recently broke down. I would like to move out and also finally buy a nicer car.

I started a new job in a new state in April. I never met my staff before SAH orders and I still have not. My work relies heavily on trusting my paralegal to complete tasks and work as a team.
