Stick with your current job. The jump doesn’t seem worth it. You can become resentful real quick when your flexibility and work life balance is taken away, and it won’t matter much if the job “better aligns” with your skills.

Yes, I work in commercial banking & specialize in commercial real estate. I’ve always wanted to work for a developer or investor & felt like this would make me a more attractive candidate as it can be really difficult to crossover into a meaningful role. The opportunity I have now will get my foot in the door as an asset manager w/ future potential to work elsewhere once I gain this experience. I’ll also have access to more people that I wouldn’t otherwise have. If I stay in banking, my grad degree will not benefit me much, if at all. I also haven’t received a raise or even a cost of living adjustment in nearly 4 years at my current role, so I feel like my career has stagnated. On the other hand, I have so much freedom and flexibility which would significantly diminish with the new role. I’m afraid I will never get something like my current role again and regret it once the “newness” of the new opportunity wears off. I hope that makes sense.

Hmm first initial thought was no. 10% is not a big enough of a jump to leave to go back to in office. 10% is a standard internal promo. BUT reading your comment in the other post ... real estate is very in person heavy. They don't embrace the remote lifestyle. So if you want to break in and fresh off your degree is the easiest way fo do it. Recommend keep applying to other real estate jobs though. Feel like you should get a larger bump regardless even if it's in office.

Family law associate. I run a docket of about 40-50 cases and work about 50 hours a week. I currently make about 125K (self-employed, no benefits). Between jury trials for CPS termination cases and the highly adversarial nature of family law, I find this job to be incredibly draining, as I have horrid work/life balance and struggle with constant anxiety. I recently got an offer with a personal injury firm. 110K, full benefits, for a non-litigation/docket manager role. Thoughts?

Should I feel bad for not wanting to schedule meetings after 5 or ad-hoc? It really bothers me when people try to schedule things after 5 or randomly at like 7pm ping me asking if I’m free. No, I’m not.
