Bold. Firms are still hiring. They are just looking for very specific skills and experience. "Hot skills" I am guessing they saw something in your skills that was an extreme need @ D. I wouldn't have retracted. The relationships you just burned are bigger than you think. And D is a major global firm. It's not like they are going under. They are doing what they need to do. There is a bigger picture. Good luck ...
OP I stand with you. You followed your gut and if you're happy at the end of the day it doesn't really matter what anyone else says.
Had they owned up and said "we over projected" or "we under performed" but we have a plan to course correct, I would have been fine. But "this is business as usual, just trimming the under performers" is an unacceptable response and shows a lack of trust and faith in employees.
This is a direct result of an INSANE lack of communication from leadership. Brutal.
Consequences = staying at my firm? Should also mention my firm countered and matched the Deloitte offer.
I don't think any single firm is going to own up to it and admit all the things you mentioned OP. It could have been just the same at any other firm. This year it's Deloitte. Next year it could be your firm or PwC or any of the other firms. The firm won't say they underperformed. Right now all the numbers say hat we beat plan. How we beat it is anybody's guess. I have been in the firm enough to know that when we don't best plan and the bonuses were low and some even got pay reductions. The consulting model always rewards the top performers. The needle is always moving too. What you did last year isn't good enough this year. Not saying it is right or wrong. I am just saying none of the other firms would 'own up to it' bad it been them. It's not just a Deloitte thing.
It's a machine that pretends it cares. I don't think it does.
Putting out a comm is the worst idea. That's the kind of thing that gets sent straight to New York Times and gets you blasted on front page. This is obvious.
Whoa D5...you're a prick
...How can you burn relationships that didn't exist?
Bold move. I expect that Deloitte is the proverbial "Canary in the Coal Mine" when it comes to lay-offs.
D5 when you get yours one day, no one will care. Karma, bitch
What an idiot. For all you know the same 10 people keep posting about layoffs - I personally know no one who has gotten laid off. Then again, it's probably best that paranoid people who get their job advice from a gossip app probably don't have a place at the firm. Good riddance
Who's a bigger loser: people who crowdsource their advice from a social app OR people who get personally offended/pissed off at other people taking advice from semi-anonymous internet sources?
PWC had a pretty good amount of lay offs already and it was hush hush except here
OP - salute! Bold move.
Not sure if you made the right move, they are doing what any company would do in this circumstance. I hope the best for your future
Likely the first. Life's tough get a helmet people
you probably made a mistake...
Doesn't sound like a smart move.
