I just saw an ad for an app called inflow that’s supposed to help manage adhd and create strategies to address things like putting off and staying on task. It’s $22 a month which is cheaper than a coach but more expensive than a planner. Odds that it will actually help vs. being another recurring charge that I keep putting off canceling because of my executive dysfunction?

$22/month is pretty steep for an app. Does your credit card company give you any options for temporary payment details? I have Citi and I can create a temporary credit card number and set a timeline for the card # to stop working (this doesn’t impact my real card number; it’s like using an email alias but for cards).

I use this feature for all of my trials so I don’t get stuck paying for things I’ll forget about.

Wwwwhat??? I didn't know this existed

They have a seven day free trial to start and actually send you a reminder email to cancel at the end of the trial:
“Staying on top of subscriptions with ADHD can be hard, so I wanted to email you a reminder about your free trial ending in the next 48 hours. If you feel Inflow isn’t for you that’s ok and please remember to cancel your free trial. You can find more information on how to do this <here>.”

Never heard of it, but I feel your statement about failing to cancel no longer needed things. You would think something that actively drains the bank account would get done quickly, but…you would be wrong.

I think it just depends on what works for you and the discipline to make it work. Sign up for it and immediately cancel for the next month so you have a month to try without worrying about forgetting to cancel. Make it a one step thing.

Just checked this out … I think I might try it! Looks like the annual rate gets it down to $8/month so I might do one month at $22 then cancel and do the full year if I like it? My thoughts on whether it will help - you’ll only know if you try 🤷‍♀️

Additional Posts in Lawyers with ADHD

3rd year associate here. I'm a corporate attorney. After a rough year of a lot of personal (much of which led to my diagnosis of ADHD). I am on the hunt for a new job and have been thinking more and more about the impact my ADHD has on my work and I feel like the deficiencies in my executive function make it seemingly incompatible for me to practice law -- full stop.

I feel like I can't succeed because I have trouble working independently and managing time.

Any suggestions?

Has anyone weaned off of their adhd meds after a few years? Why? And what was your experience? I’ve been diagnosed but hesitant to start meds because of no end date. I had been on anti depressants and anxiety meds for years and worked hard in therapy to address my issues. Finally weaned off (over a decade on meds) but not sure if this is possible with ADHD.

Has anyone read High Performance Habits by Brendon Burchard? I feel like so many of the traits and habits he describes come so naturally to ADHD high achievers, and I find it fascinating.

I FINALLY passed my state’s UBE in February on my fourth try after three attempts undiagnosed and the last one with testing accommodations. (How I graduated all levels of academia without accommodations baffled my neuropsychologist) I’ve been applying for jobs since July with little luck and I’m worried that firms see the gap between graduating and my bar licensure as me being stupid/lazy with the exam.

Has anyone had any experience with online platforms prescribing ADHD medications? I’ve seen ads for Done and wanted others input. I was diagnosed 21 years ago and have been treated by doctors every month since, so I don’t need an initial diagnosis. But my health insurance changed and my doctor is no longer covered. I can’t get in to a new doctor without a long wait, nor do I have time to take off work for the appointment, which is why I was leaning towards a virtual appointment. Thanks!

Commercial transactions attorney here. Does anyone have any proofreading tips that have worked for them? Are there good checklists out there? This is always such a struggle for me. I need to figure out how to stop missing things in my contracts 😭

Does anyone know of an area of law, or position where you're called to the scene of an emergency? Or, a situation where you need to be at an event?

I'm getting restless, sitting in an office, or working from home. I want to be in the middle of chaos (this is the reason I like litigation).

Can’t tell if the adhd is making me a bad lawyer, if I’m just a bad lawyer, or the adhd is making me think im a bad lawyer.

How do you approach the initial conversation with your doctor? I have taken a variety of both anti anxiety and anti depressants. Nothing works. I’ve been reading online and in this bowl, and a lot of ADHD symptoms really resonate with me. They have for a long time, frankly, but I couldn’t get my former provider to take me seriously when I was in college/law school. I’m hoping the context of being out of school helps, but I just want to make sure I maximize my odds of getting help (cont)

This adderall shortage though…wtf.

Does anyone have any tips for staying focused enough to bill consistently every day? It seems that I’m only able to bill the requisite 8-10 hours daily when I’m overwhelmed, not when I have a decent amount of work to do but no pressing deadlines. I made my hours last year but it’s been an absolute struggle trying to stay on track. I’m already down 170 hours from where I need to be at this point and unless I get my shit together, there’s no way I can hit hours. Ugh.

Tired of my pharmacy. Every single month I have to call the pharmacy for my Adderall, they say they don’t have any prescriptions for me, they ask for additional information, they magically find it, and then I have to wait like 1 to 8 hours to have it filled. It’s a pointless phone call. Why do I have to repeat these shenanigans every month?! Is it just Rite Aid? Is CVS any better? So irritating.

Has anyone sought accommodations for your ADD?

I’m going to talk with my psychiatrist at my next appointment, but I’m curious if others have had issues with Vyvanse no longer working. I’ve been taking it for about 15 months. It lost it’s effectiveness for me a few months ago, so my psychiatrist increased my dosage to the max. That helped slightly, but it’s back to no longer working. I usually don’t take it on weekends and even had a 10-day period in August where I didn’t take it.

If you’ve had this issue, I’m curious to know what you did.

I've struggled a lot with my ADHD in my new position. Lately I've had some really good days and done good work. I know I should be happy about it, but my thoughts keep getting negative, like I know it won't last. Do you guys ever get imposter syndrome like this? How do you deal with it?

I have a prescription for Vyvanse. Even without Vyvanse, I have diagnosed generalized anxiety. On top of that, depression runs in my family. It’s not a diagnosis, but I suspect it’s there. Vyvanse certainly doesn’t help the anxiety, especially when I’m coming down off it for the day. I want to ask my doctors about an anti-anxiety/depression meds, but does anyone here take ADHD meds and those other meds at the same time? I’m worried about the drug interactions/potential physical effects. TIA.

How do you guys get out of unproductive loops? I'm constantly starting something, staring at it, switching tasks, making no progress, and the cycle continues...

Anyone else taking Adderall find themselves unknowingly picking at their face or pulling their eyebrows or something similar?

I switched to a high-deductible health insurance plan and now Vyvanse costs me $280/month, and that's after the manufacturer's coupon 🧐🧐🧐
