I just saw an ad for an Executive Assistant and it said MAXIMUM 2-4 yrs experience. My first reaction was wow holy age discrimination ? Or are they just cheap. Thoughts ?

I don't think it's necessarily age discrimination or even that they're cheap. I think it has to do with "I don't want to waste your time, I don't want to waste mine" -- they may know what the salary budget is, someone with 5-10 years of experience will certainly want more than the salary offered and there's not room so to say in the most 'diplomatic' way is to max our the number of years. That's my takeaway. I'm certainly interested in other points of views!

If they know the salary budget they should be transparent and post it and then let people choose if they want to apply.
People are at so many different stages in their life we can never know why someone would accept less money or responsibility. Someone with 5-10 yrs experience doesnt always want more ... they may have been out of the workforce and trying to get back in or they may have have a tragedy or a family issue so they have a gap in their work history. We just never know. But to say min 2-4 yrs experience is a way better idea than to say 2-4 yrs Max. It’s dicey.

I agree, might be due to salary being offered and they know someone with more experience would want more money.

Do you record your unbillable time? I have had conflicting responses. I have been told it's not good for efficiency calculations but others have told me if your still doing work let people know. For example, I get weird international stuff sometimes that not everyone gets (I think maybe? ) and I need to reread the 5471 rules or 8865 rules as I do the returns. I have been told not to bill for this but if I didn't have to spend time to do such things my billable hours would be higher

Anyone from ACN looking to refer someone in?

Truth be told I have never been through onboarding via remote. It’s a bit of a struggle. It’s taking forever to get access to certain resources and my assigned mentor is always underwater. How is everyone dealing with this? My manager seems hard to please in our first couple 1:1s.

Is it okay that I’ve been a slow junior as we’re hours away from closing? I’m trying to be proactive and available to cross things off the list but I’m SLOW: takes me long enough that they do it themselves (even though this wasn’t an issue earlier in the deal) and even on quick tasks or emails, they respond to it before I can click send. There’s also so much about closing that I don’t understand and I feel like I’m bothering the higher-ups on the team whenever I ask. *end anxiety post*

I graduated with my MBA in finance in 2020 and began working at a bank as a Management Trainee. 2 years later, I am an assistant to a financial advisor studying to become a financial advisor. However, I have to do this on MY time and not the bank's.
I am not in a Management position, I make as much as a teacher in a good district and I just don't feel my overall self worth at this job. Does anyone have any advice that can help this situation?

I've been in PeopleOps (mostly focused on TA Ops) for over 9 years now. I've somehow gotten by without a degree in HR or a certification, but would like to get some more education to continue to advance my career. What are your thoughts on PHR vs SPHR vs SHRM for someone with my years of experience and current role as a manager?

I’m in a rather peculiar situation. I have been in the HR field going on 4 years, I have over 11 years of management experience, I got my PHR last year and I recently graduated with my MBA with a concentration in HR this month. I am ready for a more challenging role. However, there doesn’t seem to be much available at my current company. However, I am going on 5 months pregnant with the expectation of being out in October. I feel like once I mentioned my pregnancy I was in a holding pattern.

Any thoughts on the best certifications to get in order to help move forward? I have considered the CCP from World at Work, but it’s fairly pricey to get by the time you wrap up everything. I was looking at both SHRM-CP and SPHR. Everyone that I have spoken to has the SHRM, but that’s also only looking at individuals in a small geographic footprint and within 3-4 different companies. I was hoping to get some thoughts on this from others? Thanks

What’s the best HR certification? I’m looking to move to a generalist role from DLS (not with Amazon). I’ve been in disability for the past four years though so I think getting PHR/SHRM would be helpful for transition.

Hello HR folks. Overheard a conversation at work and am curious what is the norm.
If an employee goes out on FMLA, obviously the benefits person sends them the STD, FMLA paperwork etc. But is it the maagers responsibility to maintain communication with the person out on leave and to get a timeline on their return or would that be the benefits team? Or maybe the HRBP?
