So you have an MBA and 9 years experience but accepted a role filled by a bunch of people 1 year out of school? And you think they will compete with your 82% raise? You either really really want to be a management consultant or you take the offer.

Very unlikely to happen. In 20 years, I’ve never seen someone offered a promotion as part of a counteroffer. Especially someone as unproven as you. Your MBA is not relevant to your L10 comp outside of Strat. But, at $88k that seems very low. I’d look for something closer in $95-$100k range for L10 in Tech-South, where most IX.0 are in Resources.
As far as ACN is concerned, you’re a L10 with less than 3 months in ACN and very little impact if you depart. So they’re not going to double your salary and give you a 1 or 2 step promotion to keep you. And $160k is well within L7 salary range, especially if you’re in Tech-South.
If you think the AlliantGroup role is a better fit for you, take the job. My question would be, can you actually be a PM? You don’t say if you’ve ever led and managed a team and project before.
Take the offer to A and tell them you came in at the wrong level. If they don’t bump you up, be ready to walk. You have a few things working in your favor: your seemingly niche expertise and consulting firms are losing talent. Be firm. Good luck.

I'm ex Accenture and an A&M alum (undergrad) based in Houston as well.
Accenture will not get close to a match. Do not waste your time. Leave and do not look back. This is not a knock on Accenture but a Senior Analyst is not getting 160k. I made 160k as a 4th year Consultant (L9) in Strategy a few years ago. They won't come close

Well, this confirms my view on the value Mays MBAs…
Accenture won’t come close to matching that salary. Take the new role.
You can certainly try, but you will probably get laughed at. Especially if you refer to L8 as “Senior Consultant.” If your background only got you to L10, what makes you think they’re going to suddenly bump you up a level or two? I would absolutely take the offer and run imo.
Honestly, I understand a match to be out of the question. I am looking at something around 120k to 130k. WFH is really nice and I despise the time and resources needed for commuting. I think that's a somewhat reasonable ask given I garner some support and make a decent business case for it.
L10 at 88k feels like an INSANE underpay for someone with 9 YOE and an engineering + MBA background.
Would definitely encourage you to take the offer to your People Lead / Department head to see what they can do for you. I would imagine they best they can do for you right now is move you towards the top of the L10 pay band and push for a promotion in the next performance cycle (might be quarterly to L9, but worst case could be waiting until December).
Is your long term goal to stay at Accenture? Feels like for 2x your salary you need to be prepared to walk away if they’re not aggressive in making it right for you.
There is something wrong here, you have 9 years exp in the industry and you took an analyst role? In industry x practice? Why in the world did you join as analyst? Second question is if you want PM role why did you join industry x?
The PM role kinda fell in my lap, completely unplanned....lol
Yikes. As a fellow experienced/industry hire, I can def understanding not knowing the lay of the land while getting into consulting. And I totally understand having to curb the ego and stepping back in level to make the pivot. BUT paybands are wide enough that you shouldn’t have accepted a paycut. And your recruiter took advantage of you for down leveling you that hard. Your MBA should’ve given you enough prep and knowledge to shoot for a higher role (respectfully). I say take that other role (although I’m not familiar with that firm) to reset your career and make up for the misstep you made while joining ACN (in the grand scheme of things, it’s a very minor misstep…unless you stay at ACN, in which case the misstep will compound).
Thank you for your candid reply. It really helps.
You f’ed up. Leave Aunty A and Come to Uncle D, even from a low ranking MBA, you are guaranteed at least 120k and will be coming as an SC
Are you LCOL, mcol, or HCOL?
